70.) You still think I donât love you?
Albus loves Muggle Munich. Heâs loved it since the first time that he visited, years and years ago when he was still a boy, and had traveled here with Elphias and his family. He loves the culture and the art, and he loves the food as well. He especially loves the architecture.
He pulls the hood of his coat up higher to protect his face as he rushes to cross the cobbled street, the heels of his boots tapping against stone. The chilly wind whips his hair and stings his cheeks, but heâs close, so he bows his head and hurries.
Blessed warm air hits him right in the face he pulls open the door of the hotel. Itâs loud, crowded with busy muggles on a Monday morning, and itâs exactly why Albus picked this place. He hitches his charmed shoulder bag up higher and approaches the front desk. The woman there smiles as she turns to greet him, and heâs impressed at how easily she recovers when she falters, looking him up and down quickly.
He doesnât mind. Heâs been told that his penchant for brightly coloured coats and heeled boots donât help him to blend in to the muggle world any more than the Wizarding one.
He takes the stairs to the fifth floor, glancing down at his key to check the room number. Itâs quite a walk, but he doesnât complain, as his backside is quite sore from the train ride. He isnât accustomed to muggle ways of travel anymore, but he had found them curious enough to take in this instance, if for nothing but the experience, and the way that it is more difficult to track.
He fits the key into the door once heâs found it, checking the hall and slipping inside. He lowers his hood and shrugs out of his coat, tossing it onto the bed with his bag as he passes, and snapping his fingers to give himself some light. The lamps flicker on at once, and the blinds fly open. Albus pulls the curtain aside, looking down at the city below him and feeling a strange sense of something that he canât quite place. He hums to himself and turns around, then stumbles back against the wall, hand to his chest as he makes a noise of terrifying surprise.
âWillkommen, Geliebter,â says the man whoâs sprawled across the chair in the corner. Heâs as unmistakable as ever, fair and handsome, mismatched eyes, and that wicked grin.
âMerlin, Gellert,â Albus says, righting himself and turning away.
Heâd known that he had been followed, but he more expected it to be someone from the Ministry keeping an eye on him.
Now that he knows, he isnât truly all that surprised.
âYou know, itâs courtesy in most places to not enter until you are invited in,â he says, looking down into the street again. He takes notice of the open lock on the window, and traces his fingers over it. Some things donât change, he supposed.
âI was here before you,â Gellert shrugs, like that makes it okay.
âHow did you even knowâŚâ
He doesnât need to finish his question. Gellert is giving him that devilish grin again, and he taps the point of his wand to his forehead, just above the arch of the eyebrow that frames his lighter eye.
âHm,â Albus laughs, and he leans back against the desk, resting his bottom on the ledge and crossing his ankles. âSeems youâve finally learned to control your gift, then.â
âI have,â Gellert agrees, twirling his wand in his fingertips. His other hand rests on his thigh, and Albus canât help but look once heâs noticed. Gellertâs flair for dark, dramatic clothing hasnât changed over the years, Albus notes. He finds that this pleases him, though heâs loathe to admit it. He folds his hands in his lap and meets Gellertâs grin once again.
âToo bad that your impulse control is still desiring,â he says, and Gellertâs smile only falters momentarily.
âYou knew that I would come,â Gellert accuses.
âI didnât know, but I suspected. Truthfully, it wasnât you who I anticipated.â
âWho, then?â He asks.
âOh, Gellert,â Albus smiles, fixing him with a knowing look. âYouâre quite aware that the ministry is keeping a good eye on me, now. Why else would you be here?â
Gellertâs gaze doesnât falter this time, but his fingers twitch. He doesnât deny it.
âTheyâve questioned you.â It isnât a question in itself, but Albus answers,
âYes. More than once. I was happy to tell them before that Iâd had no contact with you in years, and that the last time we spoke, I knew nothing of your plans. What will I tell them now?â He asks, frowning.
âYou will tell them nothing,â Gellert says, rising from his chair and coming closer. âYou will continue to tell them nothing, Albus.â
Heâs still taller, though by now it is only a mere inch or so. He intimidates Albus no more than he had done all that time ago. He holds his wand out though, keeping space between them. The tip rests just over Gellertâs heart.
âHow do you know that Iâve told them nothing?â Albus asks.
âBecause, had you told them what you knew, youâd be half as guilty as I am. Colluding with the public enemy, Albus. If only Travers could see just how easy you were to persuade, back then.â
Albusâs cheeks heat and it spreads. He canât remember the last time anyone made him flush. He shakes his head.
âThat isnât correct and you know it,â Albus says. âI wouldnât go down for your transgressions, Gellert. They would utilize me as a weapon against you, though.â
âThey would try. But then they would find out about this:â
Time seems to slow down as Gellert reaches into his shirt and withdrawals the pendant. Itâs so distantly familiar. Albus gasps.
âYou canât move against me, Albus,â Gellert reminds him, stepping right up into his space. âYou canât fight me. You canât duel me. You canât harm a hair on my head, Lover.â
âDonât,â Albus breathes.
Gellert doesnât heed his warning. His hands go straight for Albusâs hips, pressing their bodies together. âYou certainly didnât mention it, did you? Your oath to me? Your loyalty? Your heart, Albus? Is it still mine?â
Albus lets out a shaky breath, feeling Gellertâs hands on his waist, drawing him closer. He feels the brush of his nose and the heat of his breath, the graze of his lips. He opens his mouth in anticipation, but whether it is of words or a kiss, he isnât sure. He gets neither. Gellert grasps his chin and strokes his thumb along Albusâs bottom lip.
âYou know that you could always come back to me, my love. You could take your place by my side. We would be unstoppable, Albus. Think of what we will do. It isnât childish talk, anymore. You still have me. I am still yours.â
Albus doesnât mean to laugh, but he huffs a little one out against Gellertâs thumb. He questions it, and Albus opens his eyes just enough to look him in his.
âDo you think Iâll fall for that again, Gellert? I was merely a child. It was easy for you to manipulate me into believing that you ever returned my feelings for you.â
Gellertâs fingers find Albusâs hair, gripping tightly at the crown of his head. Albus gasps softly, his head going back with the force of it, his mouth open. Gellert has always been good at pushing his buttons.
âYou really believe this, Albus?â He asks, quietly. Their lips touch for a moment, but it isnât a kiss. âYou think I would lie to you? When have I ever been dishonest?â
Albus knows that, at least, is true. He canât remember an instance where Gellert hadnât been truthful. Albus gazes back at him, swallowing. Gellert tracks the movement with his eyes.
âYou think I lie now? Telling you that you still have my heart?â He speaks softly, and Albusâs eyes fall closed, forgetting for a moment why he shouldnât want Gellert to kiss him now. âAfter everything? You still think that I do not love you?â
Albusâs fingers curl into the front of Gellertâs jacket, holding him close. He yields to his touch, letting Gellert kiss him, sitting back against the desk again and letting Gellert between his knees.
âI think that you do not understand love,â Albus answers finally, once their mouths have parted. âYou craved my attention. You still do. You love attention. You love my infatuation with you.â
âThat is true,â Gellert admits, his grip in Albusâs hair loosening, holding his head carefully instead. âI loved the intensity of your focus on me. I loved that you would do anything to please me.â He kisses Albus again, stroking a hand down his chest. âBut you are wrong in thinking that I do not have deeper feelings toward you. I love that you love me, Albus Dumbledore, but I do love you in return.â
Albus initiates the kiss, this time. He kisses Gellert fiercely, backing him away from the desk and across to the bed. His fingers are already unbuttoning Gellertâs waistcoat, wrestling his jacket off his shoulders. He feels His suspenders being unclipped and his shirt being untucked, then hands undoing his fly.
âThis doesnât mean Iâll join you,â he insists, letting Gellert roll him onto his back, soft cotton sheets against his bare skin.
He feels Gellertâs soft laugh against his throat.
âIt doesnât mean you wonât, either.â
