Gray x Tobin is literally so slept on (though it's not like, unpopular) and I think it's probably because they're literally just two teenage boys with teenage boy problems who do teenage boy things together. But for me that's part of the charm yknow? Me personally, I like how they're just Guys I Went To High School With. They're just so real. Grounded. Lend themselves well to modern AUs because there is literally nothing you have to change.
I'm now realizing this is kind of just about their characters in general but like!!! I ship them okay!!! They're like those loser classmates who keep acting gay with each other and you always suspect something but you don't say anything about it. And they're so real for that. I wouldn't even say they're soulmates or made for each other or anything, they very much just give somewhat messy queer awakening high school situationship that they don't fully figure out until separating for college and THAT'S OKAY!!! I love that for them!! They're just so normal and their relationship is only barely influenced by any fantastical elements and I find it so charming.

reason: Childhood friends. Tobin is supposedly "upset" by the fact that Gray has been chasing after Clair because he supposedly also likesher, even though Clair literally doesn't even like Gray back?! Suspicious. Eventually he decides to "get over" the fact that he doesn't have a chance with Clair and focus on his "best friend" which is like. Wow. Tobin at least likes Gray but I hope Gray likes him back.
