Gnarly - Katseye
..I'm still thinking about the fly sex...
...The MV does more for the concept than the actual song itself. It commits to the camp factor in a way the Song seems to struggle to. Between the car crash after the first chorus, Yoonchae's head turn, and them doing a cat walk on a table. I can see the vision...but it doesn't mean it did it well, or that I like it.
The lyrics are bland and shallow. And not in a secretly deep way but in a this feels like corporate version of fun way. This is sanitized Hyperpop. Hyperpop should never be sanitized. That defeats the purpose of it.
The Beat feels off in the worst way. Even the strangest Hyperpop has a sense of intentionality to it. Each piece has a purpose in the song. Here it sound like they mashed three different demos together and hoped for the best.
I'm writing this before Wild comes out and I just really hope they can move on from this type of song...
HOTTIE, HOTTIE, LIKE A BAG OF TAKIS π
Gnarly Barkey stimboard!

Do you use the word GNARLY unironically? Please read all options before pushing a button. Thanks! π
Gnarly - is NEVER a part of my vernacular.
Gnarly, dude! - is strictly for making fun of 1980s TV shows & films.
Only ironically, itβs dated and silly.
I use it ironically & unironically - depending on the situation.
Of course I use it unironically, it means twisted or knotted, duh!
It is a part of my heritage as a Californian, I use it with sincerity.
Iβm not from California but I use it with sincerity.
Why am I asking this?
My friends are vacationing in Finland and I sent the following text msg.
βThe air is super gnarly today.β
Thereβs been two factory fires in less than a week in Los Angeles County, the air is filled with toxic fumes and particles, thus I say to you, the air is super gnarly.

When Gnarly dropped I was like "ew, I hate this, wth?" but then 3 months later i liked it.
Same happened for Eat Zucchini.
And Pinky Up too.
