i discovered many different cast recordings of the musical "godspell" on internet archive, and there's a particular cast recording in which the "turn back o man" soloist (in this case, someone named jackie baxter) ad libs "peel me a grape, sweetheart" and i cannot stop laughing over that ad lib
(I'd i ever get the role of that soloist/sonia next time i'm in godspell, please expect me to use that ad lib; it's absolutely PRICELESS. and, knowing my auDHD ass, it might become one of my next vocal stims)

Last year I had the pleasure of animating on the documentary "You Had To Be There" (believe it or not that's the shortened title) directed by Nick Davis, about the 1972 Canadian musical presentation of Godspell played by little known actors like Martin Short, Gilda Radner, Eugene Levy, etc! The musical wasn't filmed, but audio exists, and the animation fills out what was missing in an often surreal style. The animation director want it to look like it was made in the 70's to reflect the time period. The documentary right now is in the festival circuit. Series Of Dreams is the copyright owner. Greenwich Entertainment will distribute it in September 2026
