mortal forms , aka the skins that gods wear to roam earth .

gods are more intangible concepts than physical beings . any corporal manifestation is willed , imagined , and something to be donned . some gods have their trademarks – golden hair , grey eyes , and more; while others may simply choose to appear as people imagine them to be , regardless of skin tone , eye and hair colour , markings on the skin , etc.

when a god chooses to appear in a mortal form , it is like wearing clothing , one that envelops the whole of the body . it isn't heavy , per se , but there is a weight to it , to wear human skin and have human features . to lift it away and reveal out true form is to lighten the soul , for lack of a better word , and become light wisps again .

when gods are themselves , they may be observed to flicker , like a hologram being interrupted . a god is of course , only perceived as they wish to be , but sometimes , you'd see them flicker in between old forms , or the different forms in which they are worshipped as . it causes no pain , and the god may barely feel it , but it is an interesting phenomenon to observe , especially with the older gods , who have lived for eons and have been known in different names and titles , and therefore different forms .

imerostis , goddess of love , rage and weapons , daughter-son of ares and aphrodite , dons their mortal form often . they are then known as rowan nightwine , a name picked out by the goddess themself when they were younger , and unlike the other gods , it is one of the only forms that the goddess has , and is often worn as the goddess wanders the earth .

emma changed my perspective on shifting and loa. I’d been on shifttok so long that it had kind of warped my perception of the concepts. I found @hrrtshape ‘s TikTok, and I was like “wait, that makes so much more sense”. I heard she was on tumblr, and then I joined it. so. yeah. I’m a new fan. but I will FOREVER be grateful for Emma.

from the great darkness, there came a searing light. it broke through the tangible shadow and banished the forces that lurk back into the corners of the galaxy.

no one speaks the great one's name. but we honor their sacrifice. it was their explosive death that created a spark of life. this spark of life was spread through the galaxy, like seeds sown by a farmer.

and where the sparks landed. life blossomed.

in the dust that settled following the great one's supernova, a nebula, spun of golden threads and stardust. the birthplace of stars. and, so five were formed. children of the universe, rulers of the new galaxy. gods of the days before time was counted.

riyon, the one of the skies, came together with maren, the one of the waters, to conceive sanctuary from the relentless vacuum of space. and where their tears of pleasure fell, planets were formed.

lennox, who's name means caretaker in its native tongue, nurtured these newly formed planets. he sorted them into systems and placed a spark of life in each group to watch over and grow.

his binary counterpart, born of the same star as he, also came forward. alula, the protector. with the sparks of fire that flared from her, she brought each spark to life.

finally, there was caer. they did not take part in the creation of the galaxy. they did not bless this new world in any way. they simply watched their counterparts work with an inquisitive eye and instead retreated to the shadowy veil between the places where light touches and where dark matter lurks to wait until the time was right to bestow their own gift.

and so, the world came to be.

— Ania, that was the name given to her. She lived near the forest, away from the great cities and into the quiet life of flowing waterfalls and forest nymphs. It had always been her mother and her. As for her father . . . Ania knew better then to ask, although she had caught her mother speak to the very familiar eagle she’d watch visit them since she was a babe.

So Ania never asked, why would she? She had her mother. She had food on their table, a place to sleep, a home. Everything was perfect with her father.

But that’s the thing isn’t it? Nothing stays perfect forever.
