I must admit, I can see what Jason was drawn to. The gown looks lovely on Glauce- a shimmering, gauzy material draped over her, clinging to her body to accentuate the curves which are only just beginning to burgeon. However, I suspect part of the reason why it sticks to her so enticingly is because of how much she is sweating. Her face is bright red, her hair beginning to come undone from it's pins, and as I entered, I saw a patch of wetness on the back of the dress.
It appears the spell is taking effect again, as Glauce begins to tremble. She bites her lip hard to stifle the sounds she wants to make. I watch, mesmerised.

The Met Opera's Medea is a fantastic version of Euripides' tragedy. We've got Medea crawling around on stage in her gothic Dior dress...
Jason being an even more of an asshole than I ever thought possible... (He's been with Medea for ten years, they have two kids together and he ditched her for a younger girl who is the daughter of King Creon of Corith, but in this version, he's also singing true love arias with Glauce! They have a wedding feast and they get married, and then he tells Medea to just leave without ever seeing their kids again??? Like the fuck??!)
The Nurse's role is a fully flushed out character who gave me seriously repressed lesbian unrequited in love with Medea vibes. And the hair and makeup and costumes!
Seriously look at them! Shut the fuck up about Jason and run off with Neris!
Creon betting against a sorceress is probably a bad idea... Just look at her about to fuck shit up! 👑
The scene of Creon and Glauce dying juxtaposed with Medea smiling, getting strength, fuel for her revenge was fabulous.
Ultimately, the only thing I would change is the final scene where she unfortunately doesn't ride off on a chariot from Helios. I don't know why they didn't show her in her victory over Jason in the end.
Anyway, the original opera was in French, but the most popular version is Italian which is what the Met used. If you have a chance, it's definitely worth watching! I still have yet to see a staged version of the original play.
Watching Cherubini’s Medea I kept noticing how Jason keeps praising Glouce for being faithful…
