Paranormal Attacks

Some time in the night, he wakes with a sharp pain in his wrist. When he looks at it, it looks like there is a circular burn on his skin. It mirrors some of the faded scars he has from his childhood. From Kenny’s cigarettes. 

He shakes his head. ‘That’s impossible,’ he thinks. ‘Kenny died weeks ago.’ But he can’t think of any explanation for the mark on his wrist. 

As he’s thinking, the papers on his desk scatter right in front of his eyes. They look like they were being shoved off. He hears the wood of the desk creak slightly, like weight has just been put onto it. 

He stands quickly, unsure of what the hell is happening. His chair spins a bit from his hasty dismount. But then it suddenly stops. Then it begins slowly turning the other way, before stopping again. The back of the chair is facing Levi now. He can feel his heartbeat increasing. 

When the chair suddenly flies toward him, he’s able to get out of the way, landing next to his bed. Everything suddenly goes quiet. Did he leave? Is he gone?

The answer comes when Levi feels a sharp strike into his chest, followed by one to his shoulders. He falls forward from the impact. The next thing he feels is a kick to the stomach. This is JUST like his childhood. It HAS to be Kenny. Levi doesn’t know how, but he can’t think of any other explanation for what’s happening. He had never really believed too much in ghosts before. But, given the situation he’s currently in, his mind has definitely changed. 

Once again, after a few more kicks, things go silent and everything seems to stop around the Captain. After a few minutes of silence, Levi moves to get up. He’s in a bit of pain, but it’s nothing he can’t deal with. He looks around, trying to see anything that would indicate Kenny is still here. 

The chair hits him when his back is turned. the front is towards him this time and it hits him at the back of his knees, dropping him into it. He stops right back in front of his desk. 

He’s turned slightly once there and is far beyond frightened now. Standing before him is Kenny, though he isn’t entirely there. Hes transparent and his colors seem faded. His eyes are piercing, though, seeming to bore through Levi. 

His hand shoots up, grabbing Levi by the throat and squeezing. The Captain’s breath is almost immediately cut off. He moves his own hands to his throat, wanting to dislodge Kenny’s grip. But all he feels is his own skin and cold. Try as he may, he cannot make any real contact with Kenny. 

There’s nothing he can do. 

His vision starts to swim, his eyes focusing and unfocusing on Kenny’s face. Those murderous, black eyes and that inhumanly twisted smirk. 

His vision fades to black. 

Levi wakes with a frantic start, his breath coming in desperate pants. He’s in his chair, as usual. He looks around. The first thing he sees is his papers on the ground. But then he feels a breeze. He looks to his window and sees that its open. He relaxes slightly. ‘The wind must have blown my papers off last night.’

He stands, feeling a bit sore. But he always does after sleeping in his desk chair. He dismisses it and tries to rid himself of the thoughts of his nightmare. ‘It had seemed so real...’ 

He shifts the sleeve of his shirt and winces slightly. His heart drops. He turns his wrist over, staring down at the crisp white fabric for what seems like ages. Finally, he slowly  moves the fabric. 

The burn. Plain as day against his pale skin. 

He rushes over to a mirror that he has, hastily undoing his cravat and moving his shirt collar to the side. 

He shakes his head and backs away from the mirror as he looks at the bruises that are forming around his throat. Shaped like a hand. Kenny’s hand. 

He thinks he smells smoke and hears a chuckle. He whips around, but sees only the empty room. 

He leaves his room quickly, grabbing his boots and jacket by the door, but not putting them on. His priority is to get out of that room. 

In his haste, he doesn’t see the wisp of smoke that swirls in the center of his room. A smoker’s exhale. 

The Sallie House in Atchison, Kansas quickly earned a  reputation as one of the most haunted places in the U.S. The house was built between 1867 and 1871.

The house was brought to national attention when Debra and Tony Pickman lived there from 1992 to 1994 and had many disturbing encounters, including physical attacks on Tony, unexplained voices, and apparent burnt finger marks upon mysteriously burning candles.

The house originally got its name due to the haunting of a little girl, who was later given the name "Sallie." Debra and Tony believed that the little girl was trying to warn them about the evil spirits which dwelt within the house. Aside from Sallie appearing to Tony and Debra, numerous attacks were also carried out on anyone who lived inside the house or investigate its mysteries.

In addition to the attacks, visitors and witnesses also reported full bodied apparitions, flying objects, phantom furniture, sounds of strange animals, human voices and mysterious items appearing and disappearing at random points throughout the house.

The first major investigation on the Sallie House was carried out in the early 90's by the Television show, Sightings. Since that time, several psychics and paranormal investigators have attempted to uncover the secrets of the house.
