So, shadow is my favorite Sonic character and, while I love the Shadow the Hedgehog game very deeply, it is, objectively, a bad game. This is my idea for a remake of it that could also really expand the Sonic mythos, insane as it is.

So, the game starts out much the same. Shadow has no memories and is trying to find out who he is. Then of course, the Black Aliens invade, but the invasion is slightly different.

See, the Black Aliens, rather than just invading and causing massive destruction, essentially lock the planet down, not allowing anyone to enter or leave. And unleashes several mobians, some male and female, but all of them powerful and they also look suspiciously like Shadow.

These mobians make up the majority of the bosses in the game. They are the Children of Doom, warriors created from the DNA of Black Doom, all of which are competing to be his successor.

During the game, Shadow will receive guidance from both members of the Sonic Team (including Eggman) and a mysterious figure who pushes Shadow towards violence and destruction. They are, unsurprisingly, Black Doom in disguise.

During the missions leading up to a boss fight with one of the Children, Shadow will get the chance to learn their backstories, and realize they are actually lost and full of pain, rather like him. In addition, as you go along, you’ll meet character who will provide clues to Shadow’s past. It’s laid out like a mystery, a lot of disjointed pieces coming together to paint a larger and more sinister tapestry.

At the end of each fight with one of the Children of Doom Shadow will have the choice of destroying them or sparing them. This will be important in the endgame.

Eventually you manage to put the pieces together. You, Shadow the Hedgehog, are also a Child of Doom. Created from Doom’s DNA and forged to be his true successor. But along the way, you also discover Dr. Robotnik’s true plan.

Robotnik, all along, planned to use Shadow’s DNA to create a new body for Maria, a powerful Mobian body that would not fail her the way her human body had. When GUN attacked the ARK, Gerald thought the body destroyed, hence his destroy the Earth plan, but it wasn’t. And Doom has taken it for his own purposes.

The final showdown come son the ARK, but not against Doom. Doom has taken control of the Maria-Mobian, using her as a weapon against Shadow. She is either the Final Boss or the Second to Last Boss, depending on the choices you made.

If you killed the Children of Doom previously, then that’s it. Shadow kills the last vestige of the only person that truly loved him, and he gives away the last of his humanity, becoming Doom’s heir and successor.

But if you spared the Children, Shadow can’t do it. He can’t bring himself to kill her. And the possessed Maria-Mobian goes feral, beating Shadow within an inch of his life. But, she can’t kill him either. Because, deep down, this clone has Maria’s memories, and can’t bring herself to kill Shadow.

The Children of Doom you spared then come in clutch with the Chaos Emeralds. Shadow uses them to go Hyper Shadow, and their power expels Doom from Maria.

This leads into the TRUE Final Boss, Black Doom himself, who’s decided that Earth is a Bad Job and is going to destroy it, but Shadow, with his Hyper Form, defeats him and uses the ARK’s Laser to destroy him.

The game ends with Mobian Maria waking from a dream and saying “I remember you,” to Shadow, who responds with, “And I remember you.”
