Requested: No but it’s been in my mind for ages so you get some cute Gil x Gabelle sibling headcanons 

-Gil is older than Gabelle by five minutes, and he likes to use that five minutes to his advantage whenever he can

-They constantly have some sort of competition going on, but it’s all in good fun (although both are extremely competitive and don’t give up and can get them into pretty big trouble)

-When they were younger and all they had was each other, they used an old knife from their dad's tavern to carve a pointed G in each of their right arms. It’s their version of a tattoo, that way no matter what, they know they have each other whenever they look at the scar

-They also came up with a little slogan for when they felt it was them against the world: “G and G, meant to be, no matter what it’s you and me”.

-As children, Gil would do anything to put a smile on his sisters face...even if it meant doing something so stupid his father would punish him for it. In his mind, it was worth it if Gabelle smiled or laughed. 

-And vice versa, Gabelle did anything to make Gil smile. She wasn’t good at being silly like him, so she often just stole whatever she could around the Isle to give to him. 

-On their birthday, their dad never did anything for both of them, only Gil. So after Gil’s little celebration was over with, Gil would throw a mini party for Gabelle with the leftover cake and he’d give her presents and pretend it was only her birthday. 

-But the best gift he ever gave her was that their birthday was always considered their day with each other where they didn’t leave each other's side unless necessary

-Their fights, while few and far between, can get extreme due to the fact they both have explosive tempers just like their father

-Even when they’re pissed off at each other, they are fiercely protective of each other. Gabelle is more than willing to punch someone’s lights out for Gil just as he is willing to punch someone for her. 

-Gabelle doesn’t particularly care for Uma, she simply puts up with her for her brother's sake. She feels that Uma takes advantage over Gil’s kind nature and has more than once yelled at Uma for how she treats her brother. 

-Gil went to Auradon first, which lead to Gabelle becoming severely depressed since he and Holly went to Auradon at the same time, so she lost both her best friends at the same time. 

-Whenever Gil is feeling sad, she always sings their mother's favorite song for him (How Does A Moment Last Forever), and Gil is the only one who can get her to sing for.

-While she will never admit it, she looks up to her brother and wishes that she could be happy like him. She wishes she could be as optimistic as him and not see disaster around every corner, so every time Gil is upset it takes a huge toll on both Legume children. 

-And vice versa, Gil wishes he had the same ability to think quick on his feet like Gabelle can. He wishes that he was like her in the sense of she doesn’t need someone to tell her what needs to be done; she just gets it done. Not only that, but he’s proud that she has done so much for her own education, even with their dad breathing up her back that she couldn’t do it. 

-When Gabelle arrived in Auradon, it prompted a little curiosity in Fairy Godmother and some Auradonian psychologists, since Gil and Gabelle seemed to have a much deeper connection with each other than even normal siblings did. This led to the Legume twins being ‘test subjects’ to determine if being a twin made any difference in how VK’s bonded with one another.

-The twins could answer that one in half the time their questionnaires could...yes. 

-In Gabelle’s words “having a twin on the Isle means having someone there for you since before you were born...I never knew a time without Gil, and Gil has never known a time without me. It’s always been us against the world. Gil is always my number one, I would choose him over even Holly. He is the only one who truly knows my struggle as the only daughter of Gaston, and I am the only one who knows his struggle as the dimwitted son of Gaston- sorry it’s true though. The Isle is a place where you can’t trust even your own family half the time...our older brothers, for example, would take any excuse to beat me senseless, but would never dream of doing that to one another...at least, not more than they already do, their brawls are more to show who is stronger rather than to actually hurt each other. But Gil has only ever helped me. Because we’ve always got each other’s back.” 

-In Gil’s words “she’s my sister...I don’t think I’d be who I am today without Gabelle. I love her.” 

Tax Day is fast approaching in the U.S. Like many people throughout history and around the world, residents of France payed a variety of taxes during the French Revolution, including the gabelle, or salt tax. The French monarchy held a monopoly over the country’s salt supply beginning in the Middle Ages. In the days before refrigeration, canning, and other modern methods of food preservation, salt was essential for cooking and salting fish and meat for preservation and as a nutritional supplement for livestock. Over many centuries, the gabelle was not levied uniformly over the country. Consequently, there were large disparities in the amount of tax levied throughout the country and a black market for salt thrived. The National Constituent Assembly abolished the unpopular tax on 1 December 1790, during the early years of the French Revolution. It was periodically reinstated over the next few decades until it was permanently abolished in 1945. This pamphlet, Very Urgent Role To Take for the Complete Suppression of the Gabelle, was published just before the tax was first abolished.

What is your OC’s name?

Gabelle Legume 

What is the meaning of their name?                  

There is no real meaning, her father made it up (he claims it means ‘beautiful’).

Is there a significant reason behind their name?  

Her father retained his obsession with Belle long after his imprisonment on the Isle, and he wanted to name her Belle. Her mother argued with him, so he changed it slightly so it started with a ‘G’ and there was born ‘Gabelle’.

Do they like their name?

Not particularly, no. It later grows on her, although she still wouldn’t say she likes it. She just no longer hates it.

Do they have any nicknames?

Gil is the only person allowed to call her Gabby, not even Chad can. Everyone else either calls her G or Gab

If they have nicknames, how did they come about?

Most of them are just stemmed from her hatred of her name and wanting to seem strong, so she did her best to keep all nicknames either masculine or neutral.

Do others refer to them as their first name, last name, or nickname, more?

On the Isle everyone refers to her as Gab or G, and in Auradon it’s either Gab or Gabelle. 

Do they like their family name?

It’s...complicated. On one hand...no, because her father is very abusive to her and she doesn’t like being associated with him and his beliefs. But on the other hand, she is very proud to be a Legume, it shows she is nothing but the best at what she does.

Do they have a middle name, if so, what is it?

Evelyn. She hates it even more than she hates her first name. One time Gil almost spilled her middle name to her worst enemy and she almost killed him on the spot (he didn’t get past the ‘Eve’ though so he lived).

Have they ever wanted to change their name? If they did, what is the reason for it?

While she doesn’t like it, she doesn’t necessarily want to change it. She acknowledges that while she doesn’t like it, it made her who she is. She is Gabelle Evelyn Legume, and she is proud of that.

It’s pretty different since their dad is Frollo and he’s big on innocence and purity and whatever, so Caine is much bigger on protecting Claudine’s innocence and purity rather than he is big on protecting her herself; whereas Gil and Gabelle are more like best friends and Gil is highly protective over her (lets just say things didn’t end well for Anthony Tremaine after they broke up) and Chad, while he does want to protect Gabriella’s innocence, he would definitely have a strong talking to whomever decides to hurt his sisters feelings since Chad is all talk and couldn’t beat someone up to save his life. 

Claudine’s opinion over her brother is pretty basic: it’s her brother. That’s where it begin’s and ends, other than that the two of them aren’t that close since Claudine disagree’s with her father and brother’s actions and behaviors while Caine strongly encourages it. She wishes that the two of them could be as close as Gil and Gabelle or even the older Gaston boys, but they just aren’t.
