#wei wuxian #jiang cheng #mzds #sometimes i read a great piece of analysis on one or the other #only for the last few sentences to just completely shit on the other brother #like ok fair enough if they could read that they *would* use it to tease the other relentlessly #but they are brothers and they love each other #and they both tried so damn hard to do the right thing #they had slightly different priorities from each other #and if the times had been a little less fraught that would've been fine #but unfortunately the situation they found themselves in made their priorities rub against each other and cause awful friction #and even then #jiang cheng still arranged for his brother to see their sister in her wedding gown #and jiang cheng cold not bring himself to kill his brother even though everyone in the entire cultivation world thought he did #he is a man smothered by fear and anger and grief #when wwx resurrected #he let him escape #on multiple occasions #he let him go back to lotus pier #still grieving and angry #and lashing out #and i mean #we see obviously in the book wwx defends his brother against other people #all the time #“oh but he didn't understand the other's full motivation”#yeah #do you understand your siblings' full motivation?#i doubt it #i sure don't #i still love my sister
