For the benefit of several readers - some Furness Railway 21 Class photographs (and a beautiful colour depiction). The black and white photos show off a variety of the 21's beautiful lines, and as passenger 4-4-0s go they are definitely some of the most handsome. We are all familiar with the fact that Awdry chose on of these to represent Edward (well, they 'bear a striking resemblance' either way, which is good enough for me) and looking at these photos, one can easily see why:
