whelp, turns out new PSG's character designer, sushio, is an ultranationalist. he's done a lot of work for various trigger anime so I can't lie, this is pretty disappointing.

not sure what to make of the sushio thing. on the one hand, i don't like threatening someone's job to punish them for expressing a bad opinion, especially since this is a case where he is clearly aware he has Made A Mistake. I also think basically every production above a very small threshold of complexity is going to have some far right shithead working on it because of the nature of *gestures* the world. No entertainment product ever is going to be ideologically pure. that's the game of pretend we like to play in ignorance of anyone's real world opinions. I kinda feel like the publication that dropped this is a bit of muckraker also? which doesn't mean they're lying or nothin it just seems like maybe they're inclined to make more of this than there is.
