Something I think about a lot (not really but shhh) is how we've gotten two books with Preston in them and his tattoos were never mentioned. We didn't learn about them until we got an art reveal (plus the audiobook teaser). Which makes me wonder, why? Why weren't they mentioned at all? Is it a lore reason, or was it just not relevant to the story?
If it's relevant to lore, it makes sense that Kane and Jude wouldn't mention them, because they already know about the tattoos and therefore wouldn't feel much of a need to point them out. Dahlia and Violet probably haven't even seen them, considering Preston is usually described wearing a jacket/long sleeves.
Which makes me think that he's hiding them for some reason. Or at the very least doesn't feel the need to show them off. We already know that RK characters have meaningful tattoos, and I doubt Preston is any different.
So what if the meaning of the tattoo/the tattoo itself is so personal to him, that he doesn't like just anyone looking at it?
