why does every fult have to be harmless and prohibit actual cult stuff?

why does every fult have to have an uncharismatic and noncommittal leader who treats it like roleplay and doesn't even try to hide their state as an equal, average person (constantly venting and talking about their earthly identities) and not any kind of prophet or god?

why does every fult have no effort put into it by its leader, with seemingly no stakes or purpose?

why is every fult either "heh... I love manipulating the weak..." or "all of my followers must never do anything bad and actually they don't even have to follow me haha they'll be fine either way!" ?

why does every fult just feel like a friend group?

why does every fult leader do no research into how cults actually function?

am i misunderstanding the point of fults or have we just lost the plot... :(

i understand some unrealism since yk, actual cults dont call themselves cults, and a lot of fults are based on fictional universes, but i feel like none of them are trying to be real communities T_T don't TELL me that you're manipulating me??? or worse, don't prohibit it altogether??? you're supposed to use me and brainwash me and punish me and lovebomb me, whats the point if you don't?

One must gain as much control as they can over their subject. This would mean limiting basic comforts: no hot showers, limited access to food, no blankets, pillows, etc. These things can then be "awarded" for good behavior.

Additionally, one would need to get their subject in a much more malleable condition. For this, I recommend limiting sleep. Make your subject stay up for a few days, and they'll be very vulnerable to suggestions and programming.

Lack of sleep affects the brain. It impairs function, reaction time, and more. Most importantly, it disrupts emotional regulation and causes memory problems. This is vital to programming. Your subject being unable to control their emotions and having a more limited memory will make the act of programming that much easier for you.
