Drove around the OC for a couple of hours on Saturday to caputre 3 Streamline Moderne buildings in Buena Park & Fullerton. The two Fullerton ones were almost across the street from each other so that was convenient.

CHICANO ART MOVEMENT attends: āRostros, lugares y momentosā 2025

On Thursday, August 14, 2025, we took a trip to Fullerton, CA for the first opening reception of Margaret Garciaās āRostros, lugares y momentosā (faces, places and moments) within the galleries of the Muckenthaler Cultural Center.

āāRostros, lugares y momentosā [by Margaret Garcia] is an exploration into themes that inspire her work: the importance of people, community, and events and their impact on our understanding and connection to the world, from the block down the street and beyond.ā

āMargaret Garcia has been an active pillar in the Los Angeles and Chicano art scene, a journey that has lasted for over five decades. She has unselfishly taken on roles of teacher, mentor and activist along the way. Her art is a reflection of the city and community she calls home. Margaret paints from the heart. Each stroke of the brush flows with colors of affection for those around her. The finished work is a visual whisper for the unity of people.ā ā Scott Christensen, curator of the exhibit

We enjoyed catching up and taking pictures with la artista and even got invited to be a muse for her Wednesday night portraiture class. We even heard a good chisme: there was a double reception within the week.
