Carol Kane is one of my life-long heroes whom I have adored since I was a little girl watching Taxi. I've finally made a tribute to her and her gorgeous spaghetti hair with this Lillian Kaushtupper doodle. Wishing a very Happy Birthday to Hannah Gadsby! Her comedy special Nanette holds a special place in my heart. I know it sounds like an understatement to call that show a game changer but that's exactly what it is. Some comedians care too much about trying to sell you on the idea of their stage persona while others may be solely concerned with having you laugh AT them; however, in Nanette, Gadsby feels genuine in her connection with the audience, laughing WITH us as she shares the humors and hardships of life. It's therapeutic in every sense of the word. I think its a quintessential example of how comedy can be both witty and moving. There are many things in the special that have stuck with me but this quote is something I think of often. I drew this picture of her for my Wise Words series that showcases quotes that inspire me.

It's hard to believe that Carrie Fisher has been gone for 3 years now. But she's not really gone. She's alive in any woman who refuses to settle for other people's dreams rather than her own. She's alive in any woman who roots for other women to succeed, too. She's alive in any woman who can look at the hardships in her life and choose to find humor and strength, instead of letting it define and defeat her. At a very young age, she taught me to strive to do those very things. And I, no matter how old I am, will always continue to try to make her proud. This is a recent redesign I made for my Redbubble store a while back from a painting I had previously made of her. I made this painting in honor of Harry Styles' birthday today. He has a voice that I could listen to all day; in fact, there have been days where I actually have. I like the energy and emotion that he brings to the stage and his music. In his performance in Dunkirk and during his appearances on @j_corden 's show, he has shown a lot of promise as an actor and host, too. His talent is going to take him very far! I really think Harry Styles is a beautiful person who sees beyond the shallow smoke and mirrors of fame. His "Treat People With Kindness" campaign is very near and dear to my heart, and my sister and I proudly wear our shirts and pins for it often. I am a bit hesitant to post these pictures because it recently came to my attention that someone stole my artwork and has been selling it on stickers without my permission or giving me any financial compensation. So, it's understandable that I am reluctant to post more of my art online. But I'm very proud of this art piece that I made for my brother's 30th birthday. (It took me 3 weeks to complete!) He had a Pokemon themed party and I could not be there because he lives over 18 hours away. But through my art, I was able to get in on the fun by making my present for him coincidee with his party. And he loved my art when he saw it! That made me so happy.
