The landscapes were not very interesting that day, so we opted for the doorscapes. This is a film version of pictures I posted a couple of weeks ago. I was testing out the repair on the Deardorff, which seems to have been a success. I haven't gotten it out in bright sunlight yet, but that will come once the smoke clears. We went out to the coast a couple of weeks ago, hoping to see a sky with a lot less smoke in it. Well, not so much. With sweeping landscapes out of the question, I stumbled across a small town outside of Fort Stevens, which is near Astoria, Oregon. The old jail is there, and when we saw this barred door, we knew that it needed to be photographed. Along with a few digital pictures, I used a couple of sheets of 8x10 color slide film. I can’t wait to see how they turn out.

《《《 spiraling down and down or is it up 》》》 Have you ever read the #southernreachtrilogy, by #jeffvandermeer? There was the film #annihilation too, based off of the first book. They are hands down the most bizarre books I have ever read and I loved them so so hard. They're deep, thought-provoking, confusing af, beautifully weird. . Anyway. I asked because you'll only know what I'm talking about if you've read them. . These spiraling stairs at #FortStevens gives me vibes of Area X. The tower/tunnel, the lighthouse, that Ghost Bird follows down, finds what's left of Saul. I can imagine vines on the wall writing it out, "Where lies the strangling fruit," and such. Right? . Those books are a series that will stick with me forever. I'm still not sure what exactly happened. Reading through dozens of pages of theories on @goodreads after I finished the last book gave me an immensely deeper understanding though - there were dozens of observations there that helped me see what an absolute artist Vandermeer is with storytelling, the layers that he wove together are amazing. I'll definitely read them again. But I would love love big love to hear thoughts on the books from anyone who has read them? Talk to me. Questions? Theories? Thoughts?? . I love the weird. I don't like horror, and don't like being scared (I have anxiety and telling the waitress I ordered the side salad not these fries is scary is scary enough for me omg thank you I need a Xanax bye). But I like creepy, sci-fi, mystery, suspense. I love #weirdscience and #timetravel and things that make you think deep. These are it. . Chat? (Also, any other mildly creepy locations in the PNW area that we should visit? This old spooky fort is along where Lewis & Clark traveled, cool history. There's a "haunted" hike I wanna check out.
