it wasn’t like alex to pick an activity that involved being in close proximity with people he didn’t know. he was pretty much happy to chill in his bed all day and play video games, but every once in a while, he needed to take one for the team.. right? plus, he did enjoy doing his make up and dressing up. there wasn’t going to be anything different. plus, the fact that it was a fan made it seem rather fun. he doesn’t remember the last time he met the usa fans. that managed to remind him, they would probably have to listen to his nice british accent.. maybe it was a bad idea in the end. 

he enters the preparation room during this lovely trail of thoughts, alex’s eyes quickly managed to land on one of the few people who’s presence he loved being in. those were some big words he is planning on sharing with taejin, someday. just not today. however, without a second thought his feet move him quickly across the room, a straight b line for his, most likely, favorite senior. he will forever have a soft spot for the hyung who listened to god knows how many hours of horrible korean.

she had arrived first like any good junior would do, fiddling with the cue cards in her lap when he walks in. standing up, she gives him a quick bow before sitting back down onto her own mini couch. whoever came up with the setting obviously tried their best to make it look as comfortable and friendly as possible, and she’s hoping that it translates over into the video too. they’ve yet to begin filming, and it seems the staff are checking through last minute technical stuff. 

clearing her throat, she looks over to where taejin’s seated to give him a smile. “honestly, this is my first time conducting an interview so i apologize beforehand if i stumble in the middle of all this.”

talking with taejin is something seungwoo’s well used to by now, but their current situation still feels so awkward. he’s glad that he’s interviewing a friend, at least, even if the setting does feel slightly clinical. he hates these fake living room sets, colourful furniture pushed to one cozy corner of a studio in an attempt to look welcoming. meanwhile, there’s a camera crew and producers and sound operators right on the other side. seungwoo, under all of their eyes, gets as comfortable as he can, cue cards tucked between his crossed legs and the side of his armchair.

their count-in starts, moving slowly down from five, and seungwoo gives taejin one final smile to say good luck while he still can. not that they need it. the introduction he gives is the most rehearsed part of it all, and once he’s finished, he turns away from the camera altogether. although it remains in his peripheral vision, seungwoo relaxes a little when he’s mostly facing taejin. 

       duri had always found this whole thing a bit odd, but he wasn’t really ever able to put his finger on it. every time he thinks upon something for base complex, his mind goes back to a conversation that he had with hyeju last year about being turned into three-dimensional models or even ai avatars, which seemed to be what was being pushed for this. maybe it would be good for fans to feel closer to idols, to get a picture with an idol they always wanted to meet? but, it did still feel a bit odd in a way and he felt like he couldn’t put his finger on the thoughts that he was having. it couldn’t be that bad, right? nonetheless, he was going today to do the shooting for the vr photo-booth. 

even on a stage with people he’d rather not have been with, this moment might have made the pain worth it. just for a moment. the be my baby cover hadn’t even finished when sung had finally set off around the backstage area, hard steps seeking out a group of five that, dramatic as it may be, held the key to his incredibly fragile heart.

however, instead of five, sung found one. taejin. the other members must have had other duties to attend to afterwards, but, it was okay. of the members, taejin was the one sung knew the best, really, the only one he knew personally on any level, thanks largely due to the trip they were currently all on. he stopped before taejin, hard enough he nearly fell forward with the force of his stop, grin plastered on his face, still sweat on his brow. “what did you think? i did a lot of research, so i hope it was worthwhile to have waited and watched.”

Sooah was feeling very excited, and that was already a given by how smiley she looked every since she stepped out of the car that brought them to the red carpet. Sooah had always loved things like this, mainly because it meant she would be meeting a ton of people and seeing friends she rarely had the chance to speak in person anymore due to their schedules. The fact that the staff planned some activities for them to do while the event was happening was also incredibly exciting for some reason. The scavenger hunt for one was the one that spiked her interest the most. Sooah wasn’t interested in the prizes they had lined up, even if they sounded quite interesting, to be honest. Her goal when she decided to participate in it was to simply have fun and get as many jack-o-lanterns before the night came to an end. Nothing complicated.

But Sooah couldn’t push away the thought that looking for the little white pieces alone would be boring. And she was there to talk to people and hang out with them, so when she spotted Taejin in his usual Taejin posture, in the main room, she thought it wouldn’t hurt to approach the older man for a little moment. “Taejin Oppa, hello,” she says excitedly once she’s close enough for him to hear, “are you enjoying your evening so far?” she asks politely because that’s the least a person could expect from someone else. In truth, if Sooah wasn’t using high heels, she would be bouncing on her feet at this point, “you must have heard about the scavenger hunt, right? Have you seen any little white lanterns around?”

Obligation to attend company events are usually met with a lot of reluctance and resistance.

This is one of the few times where she willingly and eagerly looks forward to attending, even if the dress code came as a surprise and disappointment to her own expectations.

From childhood, Halloween had always been one of the few seasonal festivities she looked forward to the most, and the love and joy didn’t cease as she grew up. One could argue she was too old, much too childish to still believe in the magic of the night but she’s learned that the road less taken is the most fun.

“I love what you’ve done with your face.” The words are as sincere as they come with no hint of mocking laced in  her tone, genuine surprise and amusement at the older man’s choice of makeup for the night but she only finds it intriguing he was bold enough to pull off something which seemed so uncharacteristic for him, especially in contrast of how he always carried himself in public and the image he had going for him.
