filipino/tagalog is kind of hard, diba?
i decided to do an impromptu studyblr post - my first one! my apologies for a shit quality photo, but itās nighttime and overhead lighting isnāt always the best. iām probably going to stroll on the studyblr tag to get more picture ideas.
today, i learned about colors!! to study tagalog, i use the podcast calledĀ āGo Filipino: Letās Learn Tagalogā and itās been great so far! iāve already reviewed pronunciation, common greetings, asking questions, the infamous markers of the tagalog language, and root words.Ā
before jumping into learning tagalog, i thought it would be easy!Ā i grew up hearing my family members speak tagalog my entire life, so i know how to pronounce it. plus, iām filipino, so knowing tagalog is practically one of my genes! i also thought that since i knew that i could learn french, how hard could tagalog be? boy, was that NOT the case.Ā
tagalog is unlike any language that i know, and i am finding it so difficult!! itās also funny because whenever i ask filipino speakers to help me, not only do they have trouble with explaining it, they also realize how weird their language is!Ā
luckily, one of my friends speaks tagalog, french and english, so she sometimes explains tagalog concepts to me in french, which is so helpful! as you can see in my photo, i sometimes write concepts in french so that i can practice both languages en mĆŖme temps!Ā
with all that being said, although i am having a rough time, i am not going to give up. my main goal for learning tagalog is so that i can be able to speak to my lolo and lola (grandfather and grandmother in tagalog) in tagalog before they die.
