writer ask meme: 3, 9, 36?
3. What is your favorite/least favorite part about writing?
FAVORITE: i get such a high from writing a sentence or string of dialogue that i find emotionally satisfying in some way. Ā the biggest high of all time is having people quote those lines back to you. Ā itās so validating. Ā also, i write a lot to work through trauma and as a desire to heal and grow as a person, and i find that creating with other people helps expand my worldview. Ā writing in a community of writers and interacting with others to create this big, churning whirlpool of ideas and characters and elevating them to something new and untouchable that you couldnāt achieve on your own. WE CALL EVERYTHING WE WRITE ON THE ICEĀ āLOVE.ā Ā
LEAST FAVORITE: that i donāt have some fuckinā sugar daddy like harper lee to pay me a yearās worth of skrilla to write my heartās song. Ā (do kids still say skrilla? anyway) i find the time constraints of having a real job and trying to navigate real world responsibilities when all i want to do is write endlessly frustrating.Ā
Thieves arenāt uncommon. Ā Yuuriās caught a number of hands reaching up into the windowsill to grab at his motherās meat pies, and caught a few younger kids stuffing rolls and apples into their too-long, hole-pocked shirts. Ā Usually when theyāre first offenders, when theyāre too young to know better or have a chance, heāll let them leave with a warning and something to eat. Ā Full grown men attempting to raid his kitchen, however, he has no time for. Ā He grabs a meat cleaver and stalks over to the pantry. Ā
The (devastatingly handsome, rakish, heart-stoppingly, jaw-droppingly gorgeous) stranger has his hands up in surrender when Yuuri pulls the door open. Ā Heās got a wide (attractive) smile that doesnāt interfere with the (infuriatingly) sharp cut of his jawline, and it reaches his (painfully enchanting) eyes. Ā Yuuri almost drops the cleaver.
āGood afternoon,ā says the (stunning, Yuuri is stunned) stranger. Ā Yuuri can only see his face in the dim lights, his person mostly disguised in cloaks that speak of outdated noble fashion a few seasons back. Ā āPardon the intrusion.ā
āUh,ā Yuuri says, dumbly. Ā He wants to reach out and cut himself on the strangerās fine facial features. Ā He wants to step inside the pantry and close the door behind him and tell the stranger, oh no, itās locked, this is their life now, here in this pantry together. Ā āThis part of the inn is, uh, off limits.ā
āMy apologies,ā says Most Attractive Man Yuuri Has Ever Met, Ever. Ā The kitchens are sweltering hot, even in the dark pantry, and the man hesitates once before pulling back his hood. Ā Heās got the same silver hair as the crown prince, just cut in a much more conventional way, and Yuuri feels his stomach flip flop with want. Ā
He reminds himself of the soot and flour on every inch of himself. Ā He reminds himself that he is holding a butcherās knife. Ā He reminds himself that this obnoxiously enchanting human specimen is probably a thief. Ā His hand tightens around the knife. Ā
āI need to ask you, um, respectfully,ā he says, admirably not addressing the Beautiful Stranger as such, āto please leave. Ā I mean! Ā Guests are welcome in the baths or dining hall or, or, or their private rooms, of course, however the kitchen is off limits.ā
āWhatās your name?ā asks Yuuriās Future Husband. Ā He doesnāt move, and his expression is almost teasing. Ā Yuuri wants to give him everything and nothing all at once.
āYuuri Katsuki,ā he says despite himself. Ā The man leans forward and gently grabs Yuuri around the wrist, the same wrist that is holding the butcher knife. Ā He hadnāt realized heād been shaking until Beautiful Stranger stills him with a touch. Ā
āYuuri Katsuki,ā Beautiful Stranger repeats. Ā āCan I tell you a secret?ā
9 was answered here, thank you!!Ā
