#fingerbones

This morning, I discovered that The Game Crafter is having a Single Card Challenge, a push for designers to create games that use only a single poker-size card, front and back, with no other dedicated components. Per the rules, small tokens are allowed, and dice are potentially allowed if the game's target audience justifies it, but really it should use as little beyond the card as possible.

OBVIOUSLY, instead of doing normal New Year's Eve stuff, I spent the bulk of today working on a design for Fingerbones, a simple but somewhat strategic race game (with a skeleton theme, for some reason).

Anyway, the contest rages on for a week and a bit, but I decided to go full bore and finish the thing in one day. You can get it here, although the logistics of buying a single card are not really economically sensible for anyone, so like... don't do that. Instead, read the rules here!

Since bat wings are just skin stretched between elongated finger bones...
