Deltarune is definitely inspired by Discworld. They're both about fiction and fantasy and why those are important to people. How they come to life and take a life all their own. How they influence people and change them, for the better or the worse.

REALLY? AS IF IT WAS SOME KIND OF PINK PILL? NO. HUMANS NEED FANTASY TO BE HUMAN. TO BE THE PLACE WHERE THE FALLING ANGEL MEETS THE RISING APE.

"Tooth fairies? Hogfathers? Little—"

YES. AS PRACTICE. YOU HAVE TO START OUT LEARNING TO BELIEVE THE LITTLE LIES.

"So we can believe the big ones?"

YES. JUSTICE. MERCY. DUTY. THAT SORT OF THING.

"They're not the same at all!"

YOU THINK SO? THEN TAKE THE UNIVERSE AND GRIND IT DOWN TO THE FINEST POWDER AND SIEVE IT THROUGH THE FINEST SIEVE AND THEN SHOW ME ONE ATOM OF JUSTICE, ONE MOLECULE OF MERCY. AND YET—Death waved a hand. AND YET YOU ACT AS IF THERE IS SOME IDEAL ORDER IN THE WORLD, AS IF THERE IS SOME...SOME RIGHTNESS IN THE UNIVERSE BY WHICH IT MAY BE JUDGED.

This, is a quote from discworlds hogfather which I feel exemplifies it. How people are elevated by these ideas that are brought to life by them...

Besides that obvious thematic link there is the idea of narrative causality. Your choices don't matter and you need to be aware of your role no matter what it is. It's like how Rincewind is always the unwilling hero quite like kris.

Not to mention discworld was originally a setting for a D&D campaign with Deltarune definitely meant to evoke classic rpg's in chapter 1 at least with it's plot going step for step with how such a campaign would play out.

Not to mention we could see similarities between sans and Death or Sybil, Vimes and Toriel, Asgore. Vetinari is cold and calculating in a similar way as to how we've seen Carol. Asgore especially being somewhat similarly on his feet and a copper who's a dad. Vimes is even related to old royalty sort of like how asgore is king in undertale.

Besides That the humor is quite similar and extremely referential at times.

What I'm trying to say is:

Both known habitual liars and this, that and the other

But also :

They both gave me stuff but only what THEY wanted to .. what worked for their plans, desires and ideas , the one thing that I asked for repeatedly .. this what they refused to give

At some point it becomes clear that you’re just a thing to be used, that they will never give you what you want and need, it costs them too much

And they will keep shoving more at you hoping you’ll be fooled into taking it instead of what you really want

Then one day you realize that’s just not who they are and what they are about, they can’t give what they don’t have anyway

– There's beauty in interpreting lyrics as broad as Estas Tonne's „Internal Flight“.

– Additionally, here are a few parallels of its broad meaning within scripture :
