lay awake all night because of this. definitely have not thought enough about anger in the context of the conclave characters and vincent in particular.

op phrased it so well that really any addition i might have is extraneous but it's interesting to think about the sort of instinctive guilt i think vincent would feel for his anger—god works in mysterious ways, he is to be believed in, faith is about trusting that you will be guided safely to shore—but at the same time he so often finds that he cannot summon up any more guilt for the rage he feels.

because what other reasonable reaction is there, in the face of all the atrocities, the horror, the needless and relentless cruelty leveraged against innocent people? it is not that the love (of god, of other people, of the world) is not present, or even that it is not enough. it is only that love can only reach so far when there are bodies trapped under endless layers of rubble and a mother will never see her child again and a little girl is left to grow up alone and a pregnant teenager ends their own life because they cannot live to carry something that was forced upon them.
