Fic Reader Meme
This is such a fun idea! Thank you so much for the tag, @emeraldhonour
Fave tag (s): hurt [characters], hurt/comfort, sickfic, [Character] is a BAMF, fluff, whump, episode fix-it/AU, slice of life
Ships tag(s): friends to lovers, kiss in the rain, grump and sunshine, sunshine and sunshine, idiots in love
Three go to fandoms: I have a lot of fandoms I love. I rotate through them every so often but my major ones: TMNT, DBZ, Inuyasha, Gummi Bears, Thundercats. I also regularly love crossovers
How do you normally comment: I try to usually comment on what gave me the strongest emotional reaction. I will absolutely write a novel on stories I adore but if you catch me in a tired mood, I might be more to the point. If I saw well used psychology in your story, I’m absolutely giving you kudos for it!
Light or dark mode: Dark, for sure but I’ll switch to light every so often to break up the norm,
Mobile or desktop: I use both but lately more mobile. I do a lot of reading right before bed or on my lunch break so the phone is just more convenient.
WIP or completed: I honestly don’t usually look. I just see if a story sounds interesting. I enjoy all the types. I love when an author welcomes feedback or ideas when they get stuck. Then I get to participate!
Multi-chapter or oneshot: The longer ones can really build into these awesome epics that leave me waiting for more. I love seeing how people build and expand on the world or provide character histories. It’s awesome!
But one shots can be this lovely little snap shot. Those have a certain charm to them and they usually come with my favorite tropes!

Thank you so much for the tag, @technicallysublimechild 💚
Fave tag (s): Hurt/Comfort, [X Character] needs a Hug, Angst with a Happy Ending/Eventual Happy Ending, Whump
Ships tag(s): Mutual Pining, Domestic Fluff, Friends to Lovers
Three go to fandoms: I also tend to lock in on one fandom at a time. At the moment I am very much in a TMNT stretch, but before that it was Undertale and Harvest Moon/Story of Seasons.
How do you normally comment: I have a bad habit of setting high expectations for myself when it comes to comments (perfectionism, I know ye well). So I sometimes won't read a fic if I don't have the spoons to leave a long, detailed comment (which is ridiculous, because I love the emoji and keysmash comments I recieve on my own works!).
That said, I really enjoy picking a specific part of the chapter/oneshot and focusing my comment around that. If there's a paragraph or a scene or even just one line that especially captured my attention, I love analysing it and telling the writer how good that particular bit was in the comments. My favourite type of comments to leave are when I get to do that with multiple sections of the work
Light or dark mode: Dark mode, please :)
Mobile or desktop: Mobile. If fic writers didn't mean us to read their masterpieces late into the night instead of going to sleep, then they wouldn't write them so compelling /silly 😉
WIP or completed: Both. A completed work is a treat, because I know there will be a conclusion going in (unless it's part 1 of an ongoing series). But I love coming into a WIP and getting to share the author's excitement as they go. And getting an email that a new chapter just dropped is so much fun! Plus, I'll often go back and reread from the start once the work is completed, so I get to experience it all through again, but this time pick up on all the foreshadowing :)
Multi-chapter or oneshot: Again, both. I love getting sucked into a compelling multichapter fic and letting it consume my every waking thought. But I also love a oneshot that can floor me with just a single chapter. Plus, I don't always have the energy/time/spoons for a large fic, so oneshots are nice and bitesized.

Thanks for the tag, @emeraldhonour :D
Fave tag (s): According to my Ao3 bookmarks, some of the top ones are Hurt/Comfort, Angst, Whump, Sickfic, Family. No surprise there XD
Ships tag(s): Friends to Lovers, Established Relationship, Not Actually Unrequited Love
Three go to fandoms: I tend to go all in on one fandom at a time. Right now it's TMNT at the forefront, obviously, but Undertale and Gravity Falls are still close to my heart
How do you normally comment: I like to tell the author how the fic made me feel (e.g. "This is so bittersweet", "My heart is full", etc.) and/or point out a specific segment that stood out as particularly effective to me and end it with a thanks for writing and sharing it with us <3
Light or dark mode: Light mode, I usually just turn the screen brightness down if it starts hurting my eyes
Mobile or desktop: I usually prefer desktop because of the wider screen, better zoom and my hands get tired scrolling too long on mobile
WIP or completed: Both! I've been gotten by some pretty intense cliffhanger WIPs but that also does let me work with my imagination to fill in the gaps, which I appreciate. There's also just nothing like that warm, settled satisfaction of reaching a solid ending, happy or sad
Multi-chapter or oneshot: Both! But I seek out oneshots a little more often because I know if I pick up a multichapter I'll end up neglecting self care like sleep and food to get sucked in without putting it down ^^"

Hello! For the fic reader ask game: B7, B9, C3, C10, D9, D10 ❤️
Hello there! Thank you for the ask, there are quite a few of them here O.O
B7: Which character is your favourite to read about? Why?
At the moment, Clavis Lelouch. He's such a malleable character with so much potential, and I love seeing how others interpret his actions and toss him into random situations.
B9: Who is your OTP?
🤷♀️ Idk buddy. Cosmo and Wanda, I guess?
C3: Is there anything that makes you nope out of a story? What is it?
So... my definition of "safe for work" is more conservative than the internet's, and many times throughout the years I've opened stories that I ended up not finishing for one or more reasons. My list of nope-ing out of a story is very long, so I'll just pick a few that come to mind:
Too many typos or grammatical errors. I do them all the time too! But if I can't understand what I'm reading, I can't continue.
Private/intimate scenes that make me feel like an awkward third wheel. It's like looking away from the TV when a yikes scene comes on.
Excessive foul language or vulgar behavior. Just no, expand your vocabulary, please.
Problematic relationships depicted in a good light. I know fandom is escapism, but I'd rather stick to reality.
If it's just one line, I could probably let it slide. But if it goes on for paragraphs and paragraphs I nope outta there. And I'm not shaming anyone for enjoying any of these, not by a long shot. They're just not meant for me.
C10: What book could you just never get into, no matter how hard you tried?
The Divergent series was pretty big when I was in middle school, but every time I started it someone in my class would look over my shoulder, see the chapter I'm reading, and say "Oh! Is this the part when [insert giant spoiler]!" I've grown more resistant to spoilers now, but it does still ruin the mood.
D9: Who do you discuss fandom-related things with most often?
These days, it's the tumblr moots ❤️
D10: What is one story idea you really want to read but no one has written yet?
Since I've been thinking about it a lot today and Cybird refuses to deliver, Bloodstained Rose Day. I have at least 5 wips on the subject, but I'm skeptical anyone else wants to read them, so I need to see at least one story posted to confirm I've got a kindred soul out there. (But nothing too gory, I'm a sensitive kindred soul)
Reader to reader, let's share some questions.

For the fic ask meme: 1, 8, 43. Also, if you wanna talk about when you started reading fics...
1. What fandom(s) do you read?
Currently just Game of Thrones (Jonsa), but my past favorites are The X-Files (MSR), Sherlock (Sherlolly), Gossip Girl (Chair), Prison Break (MiSa), Grey’s Anatomy (Lexzie), Buffy/Angel (Spuffy, Xanya, Wilah), and Harry Potter (Harry/Hermione).
8. Talk about the ships that you read.
A common theme for most of my favorite ships is heroic, self-loathing men and the women who make them better. With Jonsa in particular, I relate to Sansa’s early romantic idealism, subsequent trauma (to a MUCH smaller degree), and resulting fear of the world around her. I love that so much of the Jonsa fic centers on Jon patiently rebuilding Sansa’s faith in men and humanity while also showing her that sex can and should be consensual and pleasurable for both parties. I usually ship/read what I’m most craving for myself.
43. Do you read OT3 fics commonly? Have you ever?
Not commonly, but I have. I read a FANTASTIC OT3 fic in the X-Files fandom When the Ink Dries by somekindofseizure. It’s Mulder/Scully/Stella Gibson from The Fall. I was expecting it to be weird that there are two different Gillian Anderson characters having sex with each other, but it was just incredibly hot and beautifully written.
And then I’ve read a few Jon/Sansa/D*ny and Jon/Sansa/Margaery one-shots.
Bonus: When did you start reading fics?
I remember that magical day so well, lol. It was the early 2000′s. I was a young teen. I had already been hand-writing Harry/Hermione fic in my “day-dream journal” without realizing it was a thing other people were doing. My friend sent me a random Rory/Tristan Gilmore Girls fic she had discovered. I think it took place at a picnic? I don’t remember. What I do remember is that when I finished, I thought, “Hm, I wonder if people do this for Harry Potter.” I googled it (or asked Jeeves probably - I don’t think google existed), and my world was forever changed.
(Side note: I always want to participate in these memes but am too afraid that I won’t get any asks, so thank you for helping me get over that fear @fondofeveryprickle !!)
Hi! Could you do 14 for the Fanfic Reader ask game? Thank youu! Have a nice day
Hi there!!
14: what’s your favourite AU setting?
That would be Kira wins or L joins Kira AUs. I also love historical AUs, fantasy AUs, and scifi AUs as long as there’s still a Death Note and Light is Kira. An AU I’m hoping to write when I get time is one with the setting and some lore from Locke & Key (not a crossover, per se but just using the tropes of the magic keys, a spooky old mansion for Wammy’s House, and long-buried secrets from a prior generation).
From this meme
Ok, I could ask almost all of these, but how about 15, 16, 18 and 19!
from this fic reader meme - ask me things
15. What can an author do to make you love them?
Being funny. I’m such a hoe for funny. And I don’t mean that a story has to be stand-up gig, only that... even heavy stories have their moments of lightness because life is like that and a moment of levity, properly placed, is priceless.
Also, humor is smart and so character-specific. Characters have such different senses of humor and I love it when authors get them just right. Intelligence in fic is such a beautiful thing and nothing demonstrates that like humor.
16. What can an author do that makes you avoid them?
Being overly serious.
18. What kind of commenter are you? (no comment, short comments, emojies, keyboard smash, long comments, etc)
I am, primarily, a kudo-er. I’m not a very consistent commenter because I usually read on my phone and commenting on a phone is a must to avoid.
The times I have been able to sit down and leave a proper comment--a rarity, I’ve been told--then they are long comments usually. I want to be clear about what it is that I loved about a story, why I want to stop and write about it.
When I can, I try to reach out to the writer via tumblr and heavy breathe in their direction too.
19. Have you ever stopped reading a fic? Why or why not?
It doesn’t happen often, but it has happened. Usually because I no longer follow what the author is trying to say or do with the characters.
Because I write fic as well, I am well aware of just how much taste and preferences plays into fic reading habits. Fic is free and if an author wants to take the story somewhere I can’t follow, I don’t have to go but they don’t have to stop. They should keep driving that bus, I’ll just get off.
GOD, WHY DOES EVERYTHING I WRITE SOUND LIKE INNUENDO. I give up.

thank you for the questions, @heihallohadet!
