Hello đ¤. Could you help me find a fic? I believe it's a Sterek fic or possibly pre-Sterek. Key points I remember: Derek was feral and kept in the basement of the Hale house, werewolves were known I think, Stiles was picked to be the next caretaker of Derek at a town event from a bucket of names, and Stiles broke Derek's ferality. I think Deaton was involved in the facilitation of Derek's care and I believe no other Hales survived the fire. Oh, I remember that Stiles was a lot more humane with how he took care of Derek than the ones who came before him. I hope I gave you enough to go off. Please and thank you đ.
Hi @myblurryreality! @hedwig221b found it.

Not wanting to think on it too much, Stiles took a step forward and passed his hand between the bars, moving the bleeding side closer to Derekâs mouth.
âNot too close, he bites.â
Stiles snatched his hand away just as Derek had been about to lick at it. The snarl he got in response was not comforting.
âHe what?â Stiles asked nervously, turning to Deaton.
The man looked a little amused. âDonât worry, only if he doesnât like you.â
âWell, he probably hates me, now!â Stiles insisted, turning back to Derek.

I am looking for a fic where Derek is feral and soulmates are reality. Stiles is in high school and everyone learns that Derek is his. Stiles is embarrassed/resentful by it because of the state Derek is in. I recall one scene where Jackson is bullying Stiles about his soulmate being an animal and Derek attacks him to defend Stiles. Iâve looked at fics tagged for soulmates and ferel! Derek she have had no luck!
Adding on to my searchâŚI am sure that in this fic that Stiles is forced to allow Derek to follow him and be near him to bring back his humanity.
Stiles wakes up to a broken window and a creature in the tree outside his bedroom window.
For @s-is-for-stilesÂ
The creature sprinted through the darkness, claws digging into the damp earth and tearing up clumps of dirt. They ran through the dense forest, weaving his way through the labyrinth of thick tree trunks and leaping over the fallen trees, broken branches and thick shrubs. The thick undergrowth and claw-like twigs dragged at their skin, scratching at the flesh and leaving angry red marks.
Earth turned to asphalt as the creature ran through the streets, unnoticed, hauling themself up a nearby tree.
They slowed, crouching on the bough and hiding in the shadows as something caught their attention.
They crawled closer, tilting their head in curiosity as they looked at the shimmering image in the reflection of a window.
Inhuman.
Red eyes.
The creature balled its fist and slammed it into the reflection, shattering the image.
The loud crash of shattering glass woke him.
Stiles bolted upright in his bed, gasping as he watched the glistening shards of glass rain across his carpet.
He swallowed hard, his heart hammering against his ribs.
His eyes darted around the darkness.
The silvery glow of the moonlight lit his curtains, the fabric billowing as the cool night breeze blew through the broken window. The broken glass glimmered like diamonds, scattered across his bedroom floor.
There was no one there.
He shuffled to the end of his bed, coiling his fingers around the handle of the baseball bat that rested against the foot of his bed.
He tried to keep his breathing even as he rose off the bed, carefully stepping around the broken glass. He tightened his grip on the bat, raising it over one shoulder, ready to swing.
Stiles looked up, his eyes focused on the jagged shards of glass still stuck in the window frame. Slowly, his eyes focused on something beyond the window; a silhouette among the shadows of the tree outside his bedroom. The figure was crouched on the bough, hunched over and hiding in the shadows.
It seemed human, but at the same time, not.
The figure slowly turned their head, looking at Stiles.
Stilesâ heart lurched into his throat, his gut twisting as he froze in fear.
The figure wasnât humanâtheir eyes were lit with an unnatural red glow.
âWhat the fuck?â Stiles said breathlessly.
He kept his eyes on the creature, slowly reaching over to his bedside table and grabbing his phone. His eyes darted from the creature to his phone as he unlocked it and scrolled through his contacts until he found the one he was looking for.
He held the phone up to his ear, listening as it rang.
âPick up, pick up, pick up,â he whispered pleadingly.
âStiles?â Scottâs voice was weary and lethargic.
âI know itâs late, but I really need you to come over.â
âItâs three in the morning,â Scott groaned.
âI know, and Iâm sorry. I canât explain whyâI donât even know howâjust⌠please?â
Scott let out a reluctant sigh. âIâll be there in five.â
âYouâve still got the key I gave you, right?â Stiles asked.
âYeah.â
âOkay, when you get here, just come upstairs to my room.â
âI swear to god, Stiles, this had better be good.â
âI donât know what it is,â Stiles said. âBut itâs something.â
âFive minutes,â Scott said before hanging up.
Stiles tossed his phone on to his bed, swallowing hard against the lump in his throat as he looked at the creature.
The creature looked back at him, his glowing red eyes full of curiosity not rage. They tilted their head slightly, studying Stiles.
âDid you break my window?â Stiles asked, struggling to keep his voice even.
The creature didnât reply. Their eyes drifted from Stiles to the arm they cradled against their chest.
Stiles stepped forward, careful not to step in the glass.
âAre you hurt?â Stiles asked.
The creature looked up at him, pausing for a moment before moving his arm away from his chest. He held it out, the silver moonlight gleaming as it caught the shards of glass embedded in his arm and illuminated the streams of blood that coursed down his arm.
Stiles winced, swallowing against the bile that rose into his throat.
âOkay,â he said quietly, talking slowly and accentuating his words. âIf you come inside and promise not to hurt me, I can help you.â
The creature shuffled forward across the bough.
It was almost human in its build, aside from the jagged claws, thick fur on its arms and torso. Their ears were drawn to a point and the structure of their face seemed human but altered; harsh features, fangs, heavy brow bones that made their eyes seem sunken, and thick sideburns that ran along their jaw. Their body was built, firm muscles beneath tan skin. Faint scars covered their arms, back and torso.
âHe?â Scott asked. âHow do you know itâs a âheâ?â
âHeâs naked and packing,â Stiles answered.
Scott levelled Stiles with an exasperated look. âWhat do we do?â
âYouâre the one with veterinary training,â Stiles said.
âIâll go get the First Aid kit,â Scott said. He paused, looking down at the glass. âAnd a broom. See if you can get him inside.â
Stiles waited until Scott was out of the room before turning back to the creature. He set his baseball bat down, letting it lean against his bed as he took another step closer to the window.
âItâs okay,â he said softly. âWe can help you. You just need to come inside.â
The creature tilted his head slightly, watching Stiles with curiosity and scepticism.
âYouâre bleeding,â Stiles pointed out, accentuating his words. âWe can help you.â
The creature looked down at its arm, the blood streaming across his skin. He turned back to Stiles, his brow furrowing as he seemed to think it over.
He shuffled down the branch towards the window.
âWait,â Stiles said.
He grabbed a sweatshirt from where heâd tossed it on the floor, wrapping it around his fist as he stepped over to the window and punched out the last of the glass. He cleared away the last fo the glass and unfurled the sweatshirt, laying it over the window to protect the creature from any broken glass.
He grabbed a blanket off the bed and used it to clear away the glass on the floor.
âThere we go,â he said, taking a step back from the window.
The creature edged closer to the window, reaching out and pressing his palm against the window sill as if to test it. He cautiously crawled forward, clambering into Stilesâ room.
âThere we are,â Stiles said.
He looked around.
âWhy donât you sit on the bed?â Stiles suggested, gesturing towards the bed.
The creature looked from Stiles to the bed.
âItâs safe,â Stiles promised, shuffling over to the edge of his bed. He sat down and patted the spot next to him. âSee?â
The creature stepped around him, climbing up onto the bed and crouching on the mattress.
âThere you go,â Stiles said encouragingly.
The creature looked at Stiles curiously, slowly leaning forward. I brought its face close to Stiles.
âPlease donât bite me,â Stiles said, pulling away from the creature.
The creature backed up, a look of sadness passing over his face as he glanced away from Stiles.
âIâm turning on the light,â Scott said as he stepped into the doorway. He flicked on the switch.
The creature flinched, wincing as the harsh light burnt his eyes. He blinked a few times, letting his eyes adjust to the light.
Scott grabbed Stilesâ desk chair and pulled it over to the side of the bed, setting down the First Aid kit as he looked at the creatureâs arm.
âYou werenât kidding,â Scott mused. âThat looks bad.â
Scott looked up at the creature, trying to hide his fear as he held out a hand.
âCan I see your arm?â he asked.
The creature looked from Scott to Stiles.
âItâs okay,â Stiles said reassuringly. âYou can trust him.â
The creature shuffled forward, holding out his bleeding arm.
Scott looked it over.
âI need to get the glass out,â he told the creature. âIt may hurt a bit.â
The creature didnât respond.
Scott cautiously reached for one of the larger shards. He pulled at.
The creature pulled their arm back. They lunged forward, growling and baring their fangs at Scott.
Scott reared back.
âWhoa, whoa, whoa,â Stiles said, reaching in between them. âItâs alright. He didnât mean to hurt you.â
The creature settled, sitting back on the bed and holding their arm out to Scott.
Scott reached forward again, pulling a shard of glass from the creatureâs arm.
The creature winced, but didnât pull away.
âDo you understand us?â Stiles asked, his brow furrowed slightly as he looked at the creature.
The creature sat upright, looking at Stiles attentively.
âEric?â Stiles repeated.
The creature dropped his head.
âOkay, not Eric. But it sounds like Eric?â Stiles surmised. âDerek?â
The creature looked up at him, his glowing red eyes shocked.
âDerek,â Stiles repeated.
The creature didnât look away.
âOkay, we have a name,â Stiles said, a triumphant smile turning up the corners of his lips.
âIf he has a human name, do you think he was once human?â Scott asked.
âWhat does that make him now, a mutant? Cursed? A werewolf?â Â
âI donât know,â Scott replied, focusing on stitching the gashes in the creatureâs arm.
He cleared away the last of the blood that streamed down Derekâs forearm before wrapping a bandage around his arm and pinning it in place.
He sat back, looking at Stiles. âHe came here. He tried to get in through your bedroom windowânot a door or any other window. Heâs calm around you and listens to you. It has to mean something.â
âYou think he came here for me?â Stiles asked, glancing between Scott and Derek.
âMaybe he is cursed and only true loveâs kiss will turn him back,â Scott said teasingly.
Stiles levelled him with an exasperated look.
âThereâs one way to find out,â Scott said. âAnd Iâm not kissing him.â
Stiles looked at Derek, the creature raising his brow in return as if to challenge him. He let out a heavy sigh, glancing back at Scott quickly.
âWhether this works or not, we never talk about this again?â
Scott nodded.
Stiles leant forward, bringing his lips to the corner of Derekâs mouth in a tender, chaste kiss.
He sat back, watching as Derekâs features slowly morphed; his claws retracted to nails, his sideburns thinning out to a soft beard that cast a shadow across his jaw. The red glow of his eyes faded as his wide-set eyes returned to their natural hue, the colour of his irises shifted in the light; from hazel to green, to a shade of light blue â clear, bright and focused.
His face was familiar; a few years older than the last time heâd seen him, but heâd remember him anywhere.
Derek Hale.
âHoly shit,â Stiles uttered, unable to look away from Derek.
âIt actually worked,â Scott said, stunned.
Derek held his hands out before him, turning them over as he looked at them. A smile turned up the corners of his mouth as glanced up at Stilesâa smile without fangs.
âThank you,â he said quietly, the deep sound of his voice shocking Stiles. He looked down at himself again, glancing up quickly as his cheeks flushed bright red. âCould I, uh.. Could I borrow some clothes?â
âHuh?â Stiles shook himself from his trance, remembering Derek was sitting in front of himânaked. âOh, right.â
He clambered off his bed, digging through his drawers as he pulled out a pair of pants and one of his dadâs old shirtsâone that was too big for him but might just fit Derek.
âIâm gonna go,â Scott ventured, packing up the First Aid kit and returning the chair to Stilesâ desk before leaving the room. âCall me if you need anything.â
âScott,â Derek called after him.
Scott paused in the doorway, turning back to Derek.
âThank you.â
Scott offered him a friendly smile before leaving.
âIâm just going to face this way,â Stiles said, turning his back to Derek.
He heart the rustling of fabric as Derek got dressed.
âIâm decent,â he said after a while.
Stiles turned around, looking down at the glass on his bedroom floor.
âStay there,â he said. âIâll clean this up.â
He grabbed the broom from where it leant against the wall in the hallwayâScott had brought it up when he went to get the First Aid kit. He swept up the glass, shaking out the blanket and sweatshirt before tossing them in the wash basket.
âIâll replace the window,â Derek said, looking at Stiles apologetically.
Stiles finished cleaning up.
He turned to look at Derek, his mouth moving around works that never made it to his lips.
Finally, he was able to string together a question. âHow long were youâ?â
âFeral?â Derek finished. He shrugged. âI donât know. I donât remember.â
âHow did it happen?â Stiles asked.
âIt wasnât a curse if thatâs what youâre wondering,â Derek answered. âYou were right in guessing werewolf, though.â
Derek let out a heavy sigh, leaning back against the wall.
âItâs hard to explain, but werewolves have anchorsâa person, memory or emotion that keeps you grounded and your human side in control. My anchor used to me my family, butâŚâ His voice trailed off.
âThe fire,â Stiles said, piecing things together.
Derek bowed his head. âAfter I lost them, I was left without an anchor and I could feel my control over my power slip. I donât know when, but I lost control.â
âWhatâs different now?â Stiles asked.
âNow I have an anchor,â Derek said, looking up at Stiles.
A wave of realisation crashed over Stiles, his eyes flying open wide.
âDonât worry, itâs not some creepy bonding thing,â Derek said, a hint of an amused smile turning up the corner of his lips. âItâs a memory. From years ago.â
Stilesâ brow furrowed in confusion.
âWhen I was younger, I was out with my mum and I got lost. Somehow I made my way to the police station and your dad was able to call my mum. But, all the while, I was terrified. You sat with me and talked to. You made me feel safe. And when my mum showed up, youââ
âI kissed you goodbye,â Stiles finished, a smile played across his lips as he remembered.
âThat day I learnt I wasnât alone,â Derek explained. âThatâs what I needed to remember.â
âYouâre never alone, Derek,â Stiles said softly. âYou never were, and you never will be.â
Derek looped up at Stiles, the manâs gaze sending Stilesâ stomach aflutter.
âGet some sleep,â Stiles said, stepping towards the door.
Derekâs brow furrowed as he looked at Stiles sceptically. âIn your bed?â
âIâll sleep on the couch,â Stiles volunteered. âAnd in the morning, youâre fixing that window.â
Derek let out a low chuckle. âGoodnight, Stiles.â
âGoodnight, Derek,â Stiles replied, switching off the light.
"Stiles knew damn well what a pissed-off wolf sounded like, and every hair on the back of his neck was telling him that somewhere in this room was a very pissed-off werewolf." An AU in which Derek is feral, Stiles is magical, and they eat a lot of fast food.

Hello! Is the feral!Derek tag due for an update? Thank you!!
It could use an update! Enjoy - Jeep
Baseball Bats and Sour Wolves by Erin1324Â (4,434 | 3/? | T)
Derek is cursed with some sort of spell, and for some reason only responds to Stiles as a result. He tries to attack everyone else, even his Alpha, heâs also acting super overprotective of Stiles, hardly letting anyone get close to him.
lost and found by EvanesDust (7,740 | 6/6 | M)
After his 21st birthday, Stiles finally has enough money to move out on his own. Itâs been 6 months and while he sees his father often, he sometimes still feels alone. Which is why heâs currently standing outside of Beacon Hills Humane Society.
Hungry Like the Wolf by sisforsterek (4,765 | 1/1 | E)
Something has caused Derek to go feral. Can Stiles figure it out and help Derek get his mind back?
Broken Wolf by Lonelyirises (1,883 | 3/3 | T)
âDerek, whatâsâŚ?â The question died on Stilesâ lips as he saw tears in Derekâs eyes.Almost instantly Stiles felt the need to slap the gleeful grin off the witchâs face, but he discovered he couldnât move. Looking at the other werewolves it looked like they couldnât either.
The only werewolf capable of moving was now⌠feral. And currently nuzzling his neck. And crying for some reason. Fantastic.
Feral Derek by mistress_of_mythology (3,811 | 2/? | M)
After a run in with some witches Derekâs a little fluffier than usual and slightly more feral too.Stiles gets a call in the middle of the night and has to hurry to the Hale house. What will he find?
Into the woods by Castiels_honeybee (3,804 | 2/2 | NR)
Derek got himself into trouble, Stiles gets hurt trying to help.
Be My Strength by Novkat21Â (8,103 | 2/2 | M)
âI just read about mates. Not much, but enough. Are they really that powerful?â
Deaton hummed and walked over to peer down at the book. âThey can be. But it really depends on how well they know each other and their bond. Alphas become far stronger with one and thatâs why many have their mates go into hiding when a threat is nearby. If they lose their mate, they could lose their minds and become feral.âStiles swallowed nervously. âLose as inâŚ?â
Deaton glanced up at him with a raised brow. âThey die. Or are rejected.â Stiles felt his heart drop into his stomach and all the blood drain from his face.
I'm sorry I'm super late with this, buuuut I wish you would write a (Sterek) fic where Derek was feral =D I love your writing, and I'd love your take on that âĽâĽâĽ
Itâs never too late for an idea like that! I just recently wrote a fic where Peter turned feral, so Iâd have a hard time writing a Sterek version of this right now, but. It would probably go something like this.
I can totally see Derek turning feral because Kate got to him again, and this is the only way he knows how to protect himself from her, so Derek retreats into himself and letâs the wolf out. Stiles (and Peter and the Sheriff, probably) come to the rescue, making sure Kate is dead and taking Derek home with them.
Derek doesnât react too well to Peter, and heâs nervous around the Sheriff too, because he smells too much like guns, so it falls to Stiles to take care of him and remind him of his human side.
Stiles does that by making sure that Derek knows heâs safe now, that nothing will hurt him again. He viciously defends Derek from whoever comes and says stupid and hurtful things, and totally talks Derekâs ear off all the time, hoping that it will somehow remind Derek that heâs in fact human.
It will take time, and a great deal of cuddling and protecting until Derek finally believes that Kate wonât get to him again and that Stiles wouldnât let her anyway.
When he comes back to himself, Derek totally remembers everything that happened to him when he was feral, so he also remembers all the things Stiles said.
There would be a brief awkward phase where neither of them knows how to handle that, until Derek is finally fed up with being nervous in his own home because Stiles is not there, and thatâs when the big love confession happens.
A Request?? From Mwah??? Man if only my followers would ask for more
A list of fics about Feral!Derek that will be continued when I find the one Iâm looking for, for now here's these five
1. Tell Me Where It Hurts - Gia279 (Have read several of their other works, and all are amazing)
Summary by me: Basically Derek goes feral due to a spell cast on him and canât contact his family, cue Stiles a few years later visiting said town, learning about magic, and meeting this really intelligent wolf. What a coincidence!!
12 outta 10, this one is a masterpiece, Iâve read it three times, and am reading it a fourth
Warnings: Graphic violence, minor character death, blood magic, kidnapping, holding hostage, but not, technically Derek o Stiles still I think youâll be fine itâs not too graphic, but still
Rating, Words, Chapters, Etcetera:Â Not rated, 45,954 words, 211 chapters, although it wasnât rated Iâll put in that I wouldâve rated it mature for strong themes!
2. Feral - melofttroll (very good character grasp, I really love the way Stiles is written as well as Derekâs feral behavior, and reaction)
Summary by me: In this one, Stiles goes up to a family cabin a little outside of town, accidentally runs into Derek the feral Beta, decides to help said beta until his alpha (Scott), and Derekâs alpha (Cora- Iâm kidding Alive!Laura Hale!!!!) can get there. Itâs pretty cute actually, and shortish (It seems short to me but anything under 19k seems short to me)
10 outta ten, might read again(I very rarely know when I will want to read again contrary to popular belief)
Warnings: Mentions of Kate, Peter, and The Hale Fire
Rating, Words, Chapters, Etcetera: Mature, 12,938 words, and 3 chapters
3. A Wolf By Any Other Name - mommymuffin (Sooooooooooooooooooo fuuuuucccckkkkkiiinnnnggg sweeeeeeeet, youâre teeth are gonna fall out, plus thereâs a sequel, granted I haven't read it yet but still)
Summary by me: Derek pulls a Derek and goes off to face a witch on his own and gets cursed into a wolf to learn a lesson (Never mess with old women, especially the magically inclined ones), Heâs not completely feral, but he doesnât seem all the way there all the time so Iâm counting it!! Plus they cuddle guys, and they donât even mean to, it just happens, oh my gods
Warnings: Derek worries his pack because he has Issues, Stilesâ mom is mentioned, I canât remember if Kate or The Hale Fire are mentioned so Iâm assuming that if they are then theyâre pretty short.
Rating, Words, Chapters, Etcetera:Â Not rated, 12,155 words, one-shot, wouldâve rated it a general unless this is the one with the hand job, Iâm not certain, Iâll get back to you on that!
4. Reborn Fox - qwandererÂ
Summary: Stiles is turned into a werefox on accident, and eventually presumed dead, (More like feral, but Scott and the pack donât know that yet) this is a series where several things happen, and the character deaths are minor, and occasionally only assumed/or they come back to life, itâs a really good series, and Iâve read it a few times actually
Warnings: temporary, and assumed character death, probably other things too but I canât remember and itâs bugging me, however nothing too big, even the post-nogitsuenueayiethingymajig thing is pretty small as far as mentions go
Rating, Words, Chapters, Etcetera:Â Explicit in later entries, 39,548 words, several chapter/series, (side-note, I thought the author meant the amazingness that is Ouroboros by exclamation at first, which was a damn good read, however sad, and slightly depressing at times, it does end happily)
5. the one where there's an Irish faerie and Stiles is a fox(literally) - OneSmartChicken (Cute short read, though it does remind me a little of Malia turning human and immediately jumping Stiles I do maintain that itâs very different because Stiles turned back human FOR JOHN, not because some strange alpha growled at him, or some romantic interest)
Warnings: Kidnapping, twice, mentions and allusions to torture, but all non-graphic, minor character death though I admittedly cried a little the first time I read it I was really emotionally that day
Rating, Words, Chapters, Etcetera: General, a total of 18,683 words, and 3 chapters/entries in this series, super sweet and fluffy, I love it so much
