I see ‘fell first’ and ‘fell harder’ like two people going down the stairs. But ‘fell first’ person, walked down those stairs, they had more time to adjust and realize where they were going. ‘Fell harder’ person tripped down those stairs, unaware of the fact that there were even stairs there, suddenly surprised at where they ended up. These two people could be on the same step to me btw.

You remember when you first met her, in that sea grotto, a lifetime ago. A voice, reading to you the history of the plinth you were reading, telling you of its history. A voice that carried strength and knowledge and care.
And what you felt there was a childish infatuation, nothing more.
After all, how ridiculous would it be. To have fallen for this woman so soon after you had met her?
She was smart, to be certain. Confident and self-assured, well-read and well-educated, her dark voice carrying much knowledge, her demeanor strong and intimidating and her will could have pushed you over if she had tried.
She could have anyone she wanted, you were certain. That she had chosen nobody told you all you need to know, and certainly, nothing that she has seen fit to share with you.
But her only interest was in her duty. In this, were you both the same. And so you held yourself, much as she held herself, and all was well.
You tended to the mission, same as her. You tended to the Scions, same as her. And your first duty was to the truth, forevermore, same as her.
Do you love her? Does it matter?
You believe in her. She believes in us. What more is needed?
And what is love, anyroad? You are not sure you understand it. Is it dedication? Than you are dedicated to the work of the Scions, as it is your work as well, as dedicated as she is. Is it a willingness to die for another? You would die for any one of them. You would put your life on the line for the star or for the one, for that is part and parcel of your duty.
So what is it? And does it matter?
No, you decided. You were happy to be in her presence, happy to share her mission, happy to count her as a comrade true. You faced terrible odds and terrible things and terrible people, and led the way to a better tomorrow, next to her, next to them all.

did we forget the first ep and the flashback to how they met before training started??? when chart was being an ahole at the restaurant, picked on tharn, and phaya had to kick his butt?? remember that scene?
phaya took tharn’s arm, dragging him out, and tharn’s look said, i’d follow you anywhere and anytime, my love.
AND THEY HAD JUST MET AHAHDJDJSJS that scene is still making me insane four episodes later
AND EVEN YAI KNEW IT AND HE DIDNT HAVE A CLUE ABOUT WHAT HAPPENED IN THE RESTAURANT
i know it was a comedic scene and so easily dismissed but that is totally where everything started for them, i truly believe (in this life)

I'm a huge fan of the "falls first/falls harder" trope but not depicted as 'this one fell in love shallowly without thinking about it and the other loves them more'
I like it when it has to do with How they fell
Like, they're both at the top of a set of stairs and theyre both crossing the same difference to both end up at the bottom
But one walked down the stairs slowly, acclimatizing to the difference in height and accepts that (they think) they are the only one in love bc they're used to it. They spent time on every step (crushing, butterflies, thinking about them, etc. All the stages of falling)
And the other just fucking faceplanted
And don't be mistaken - they still experienced every step
But while the person who fell first stood on the steps, this person cartwheels ass over head on every step. They hit the bottom at light speed with broken ribs, a dislocated jaw and several teeth missing.
And while the person who fell first is acclimatized, the person who fell harder acts like a cat that wasn't allowed to smell it's new home under the door and is wondering where the fuck they are. Person A is so normal about everything bc they're used to it but Person B is rabid and will bite if they don't hold hands RIGHT NOW
