Last, but not least…

Asher Grey “Dismal”

Originally French Canadian/Native American (haven’t decided which tribe(s) yet).

Adopted son of Murky Dismal.

His companion is a crow named Ebony, whom was found in the Grey Quarry.

Ebony acts as Asher’s messenger bird and is actually a descendant of the Rainbow Crow whose feathers’ vibrant colors were darkened and greyed while stuck in the Pits.

Asher likes to draw and sketches in black and white.

He becomes Murky’s spy among the Color Kids, proving to be a more competent lackey than Lurky. He claims to hate colors and love shades of grey as much as his ‘father’ but actually admires the Color Kids and wants to explore mixing the colors with shades of grey.

Asher develops a a crush on Indigo. He thinks of her as the ‘most tolerable’ of the Colors due to her darker shade.

He is the most mischievous and ill-tempered of the Kids, good at sneaking and pranking, but also logical.

Asher has helped Murky with machines and Lurky with cooking, so he’s okay at those. His passions are sketching and geology.

Marina Teal-

Originally named Kailani Māhoe, born on the Hawaiian island of Oahu.

Marina presides over Blue-Green or Teal/Cyan

She manifested as a baby near the water where Buddy and Patty found her.

She loves the ocean and swimming, spending a lot of her time in the water. She becomes the marine expert of Rainbow Land.

Marina can be found in Teal Lake studying the algae and aquatic species.

As a scientist, she gets along with both Patty and Violet (they being a botanist and machinist respectively). She also gets along with Buddy with them both being into exercise.

She gets ‘adopted’ by Buddy and Patty as their daughter/little sister

Hickory Brown

The first of my original Color Kids

Originally Hector Garcia, a Latino from Texas

Hickory was found in the fields by Red and Lala, who adopted him as their son/little brother.

He is good with plants and animals, working with Patty to make sure the various plants in their gardens are healthy and pollinated. He is everyone’s little brother in the same way that Pink is like everyone’s little sister.

Hickory can be a goofball but he is passionate about farming and helping Pink with the animals.

He is the only Color Kid who manifested in recent times with memories of his past life.

The things he misses the most are the availability of meat and dairy, they being vital components of a lot of the food he had growing up.

He asks Rainbow to bring him Mexican food when she goes to Earth, Brian too when he visits.

Hickory makes really good horchata and spicy food.

Krys

Full name: Krystal Quartz of Planet Spectra

Honorary Color Kid and Hero of Spectra, a member of the Sentinels of Light, who are guardians of light, and by extension, color.

He is the protector of “Light Unseen”, meaning colors not visible to the naked eye.

He wears a special item called the Prism, given to him by Rainbow (passed to her by Orin) which can take the form of a wristband or a ring.

The Prism can project colors that turn into elemental damage to his enemies.

Eg. Red is fire, yellow is lightning and blue is ice.

The surface of Prisma is covered in a hard, diamond-like substance that reflects sunlight towards Rainbow Land, allowing that light to be filtered into the various colors of the Spectrum.

The Spectran people live in cities and towns underground, only emerging to the surface at night to check for damage or special training.

The Spectrans are a mix of humans and an alien race native to the planet.

When the Princess arrived, Krys was in the middle of special training with Orin. The Spectran Council approved of this.

Krys is descended from a German scientist who discovered the planet and was abducted. The Hero of Spectra was born and raised on Prisma, so while he is technically human, he’s also part alien.

Krys was taught to protect the diamond planet by Orin, who is an elderly Sprite.

Krys is headstrong and arrogant, having not interacted with girls much outside of Rainbow Brite.

Krys is often accompanied by his mechanical horse, On-X, who has rocket feet that enable him to fly. Prisma invented mechanical horses for easier transport as the planet’s unforgiving landscape isn’t really suitable for normal horses.

The Spectrum was where all color originated, and the diamond planet Spectra acts as a focus lens and projector to this universal energy field, allowing it to correctly and evenly flow and resonate through the universe.

Stormy’s dragon form

After they’re aged up, Stormy discovers/remembers that she’s part dragon and accidentally turns into one in a fit of rage

Some recent sketches. Not sure if anyone remembers her, but...! 🤭 Was reminded a while back of the 1985 Rainbow Brite animated film Rainbow Brite and the Star Stealer. We used to have a copy of the movie without further knowledge who or what Rainbow Brite even was (much later learned about the franchise as well as the original cartoon show!), but the movie's villain, the Dark Princess was always cool - such a contrast to the hero! Extremely greedy and powerful.. and had a cool castle! One detail that always stuck in mind was her pet rock emerald she pulled on a leash and had "sit" on a separate cushion 😆 Close-ups under cut:
