This is why smoothies can be helpful for those trying to gain weight lol ⠀ ⠀ Sure, a smoothie might be more nutrient dense, and a better option when you are on the go in comparison to a high calorie coffee drink with 0 nutrient benefit but it is still not a good option in comparison to just eating the fruit whole. ⠀ ⠀ When you are in a calorie deficit your best friend is going to be volume. Eating foods that are higher in nutrients and volume, but have less calories is going to keep you full longer and keep you from feeling hungry and deprived. ⠀ ⠀ A couple easy volume hacks:⠀ ⠀ ✅ Instead of a burrito or a sandwich: go for a big salad with lots of veggies and protein. You can sub a lot of volume for the same amount of calories that are in a tortilla or a bun. ( I am not saying give up burritos and sandwiches forever, calm down. There is a time and a place for them still. ) Also, choose your salad dressing wisely because you can easily overdo it on calories with the dressing. Always ask for dressing on the side and choose an oil and vinegar dressing over dressings like ranch, or thousand island. ⠀ ⠀ ✅ Sub rice for potatoes, sweet potatoes, or a side of veggies. Rice doesn’t contain much fiber and is pretty easy to overeat.
