Northern Pacific Derailment, Kirkland, WA., 1966 by Track Walker Via Flickr: "Derailment in Kirkland Seattle Times- February 21, 1966 Northern Pacific Railway workers hoisted a heavy diesel engine back onto the track in Kirkland today. Five engine units and two boxcars left the rails. One of the two side-tracked cars knocked over by the derailed cars crashed into the side of the Globe Feed Co. near fifth Street South and Sixth Avenue South. About 300 feet of track was ripped up when the 24-car train hit an open switch while enroute from Sumas, Whatcom County to Auburn. No one was hurt. Rail traffic was rerouted while the wreckage was being cleared." NOTE: There are more photographs but I will look for the negatives first. Oh, and the derailment site is on 8mm film, too. I simply need to transfer the reel to DVD.
This still life image is now one of my new favorite pictures I've taken. I set this train up in front of Conley Art 101 on a concrete wall. Makes a great picture. I’m so happy that this little “happy accident” is perfect in many ways.

“BNSF Warbonnets”
A little something I made after I noticed that BNSF is now following me on Twitter, and that they have a great collection of streamline passenger cars...but no matching locomotives to go with them. So, with the clever idea of using the Warbonnet (BNSF is technically the current owner of all Santa Fe railroad trademarks), I've decided to create my BNSF F-unit locomotive livery that combines the classic lines of the Santa Fe livery with the orange, black, and yellow of current BNSF locomotives, with the silver/chrome outer color of the streamline passenger cars. I also included a desert scene to recreate the classic Santa Fe Railroad posters to push the retro feel of this picture. Enjoy!!!! Anyway, enjoy the awesome picture!!!
