The group dynamic would be like so weird when Jake would officially be there as well.
Like I imagine Jake and Dan hating each other but secretly respect each other. But no one of them would EVER admit that. And I imagine it like, if they two were suddenly laughing about the same joke and they would realize the other one is laughing, both would stop immediately and act like that didn't happen. And Dan would most definitely give Jake a glare.
And Thomas. Oh god, imagine Thomas around Jake after knowing Jake is Hannah's brother. Like we all know Thomas is, more or less, secretly afraid of Jake but acts tough. And especially the first meetings with all of them, Thomas would constantly be sweating, fumbling with words, drop things and keep glancing at Jake to see if he moved.
And Jake would stare at Thomas from time to time. Not even intentionally. He would just do it. Like X-ray vision style. And he wouldn't even blink. And MC would have to keep nudging Jake like 'You're doing it again' and Jake would immediately stop.
Jessy would probably giggle about it always and keep wriggling her eyebrows at MC. Lilly were the most proud sister on each, very clingy. Always smiling with teeth like 'THAT'S MY BROTHER YOU ALL LOOK THAT'S MY BROTHER'
Hannah would fondly roll her eyes. And Dan would once again never admit it but is always amused by how nervous Thomas is around Jake.
And every time Phil would be there as well, trying to talk to MC. Jake would suddenly appear right next to him, blank face, and would just suddenly spell Phil's password. The calmest threat the world has ever seen. And Phil would at first play it off all macho but with the time he would watch his back around Jake.
A theory about Adam, Sophia, Billy Blake and the cassette tape which actually makes sense!
"There was that cassette thing, back when we could still listen to it. And that’s probably where we heard Adam and Sophia. And supposedly Billy disappeared around the same time as Sophia. Adam hadn’t disappeared yet, but what if they did something to Billy? I’m not saying they did something to him on purpose. Something that made them think Billy was dead. The first video call when Adam called us, he said, “I know this is totally impossible, but I saw him.” I think he was talking about Billy. And then there’s the fact that Adam and Sophia disappeared at the same time. They were both scared. And I agree with you that the stranger is Billy. He was there in the woods too. And he said we don’t know what Adam did. At least that’s how I remember him saying it."
I read this on reddit, Gosh, this theory totally makes sense. I have been wondering about the timelines when Billy ran to the woods. & Sophia disappearing. and now Billy must be threatening them and that's why they are scared now. He is back for revenge, probably. it makes sense why Sophia was back in redlog after all these years. Moonvale's theme mentions that someone has set a trap for MC, that's what it must be about. Billy isn't alone and the group traps people for something, and this time they are using Sophia and Adam to trap MC, which seems planned and calculated. I belive the unknown isn't Billy Blake. And Sophia must have called that number from cafe to ask for help to unknown.
Warning: angst, trauma, mention of scars, ptsd(?) etc.spoiler for episode 3 moonvale(slightly if you squint)
Read at your own risk.happy ending btw
A/N: oof hello everyone.I am back to writing after a LONG time. This one is heavily inspired by @justjaned art here! ❤️Go check out 😉 and also yes the song "Come over" by BTS played a part(I hope the translation lyrics are right)
I don't even know what i wrote.Didnt proofread.bye
The evening breeze was gentle ,the sun settling down across the bridge painting the sky with bright red and yellow hue. Jake leaned across the window staring at it, but every now and then his head started panging loudly probably because of the aftermath of the fire in the mine. And the pain in his burnt scars were also not helping him.It has healed somewhat but the phantom pain and the memory of it burning is still haunting him.
Nymos kept trying to send and recover messages in the laptop at the background, but he couldn't care less looking at it right now. He searched frantically for the meds in the desk in the small single bed room in an old unfamous motel in Redlog. "Shit", he cursed breathing heavily, as he gobbled the water with the last remaining tablet. There was none left.
He sat down as he leaned against the bed catching his breath, with his hands on his head, shaking terribly. He didn't need to know why,it happens ever so often after he barely escaped the mine.He had thought it would be nothing compared to the frequent running from the FBI,but this situation, its aftermath was too much for him to handle.Too much for his rational mind to realise that his sister Hannah was alive ,but at what cost? She was a culprit who denied the truth for long? Too much for his heart to realise that he can never show his scarred face to MC.What if she left even before he introduced himself? Every single thought gnawed his brain cells. He whispered her name softly ,as if that could save him from this deep thoughts.
When a hollow, empty night falls
I find myself calling out to you again like this
Yeah, I'm lost, can I come over?
Yeah, I'm lost, can I come over?
*ting*
A message from MC,he knew it was hers as he had a separate notification sound for her.He slowly raised his head to look at the message.
"You can count on me".How can she be this selfless? She knows it's dangerous to even imagining to come to duskwood at a time like this. But maybe, those were just the words he wished to hear. That there was someone, atleast one person in this world who was waiting for him,who trusts him completely, one who wants him to live.
"Yes,I can't lose hope like this.I have to live,I have to survive .I want to be for her",he muttered to himself. His breathing was going back to normal gradually. He got up anchoring himself to the desk with his palms, and stared at her message in laptop for a long time.
He checked the time in his watch. It was around 7:00 pm.He grabbed a mask and hoodie to head out to a nearby medical shop.
Jake also stopped by the convenience store to get some readymade food.He surely can't take meds with an empty stomach.By the time he was about to leave,he bumped into someone and that lead them to drop their goods.Jake apologized and leaned down to help them.
The stranger smiled and replied,"Nah,it's fine.I was careless". This voice was vaguely familiar but before Jake could process it,he heard another voice behind him.
"Charlie, how about this one? Did violet include this in the grocery list? Oh god did you drop everything? That's why I said we will take-" ,the voice kept speaking. It was definitely her,MC. Jake was too perplexed and overwhelmed.
"No no no it can't be.Am I hallucinating? Is it the meds? No god let it not be her.She can't see me, not like this",the thoughts spiralled in his head as he drifted his eyes to her face.He was not going insane,it was really her, real and right in front of him.But she wasn't looking at him.She was too busy scolding Charlie.
He didn't know he was staring a little too long at MC.Charlie stepped before MC,a little defensive but with a forced smile. "Hey mister, you are staring too much at my girlfriend".
""Baby, don't do me like that
It's been a long time now
Since the day we drifted apart
I'll bury what we had I'm sorry""
Jake knew she might have moved on from him or eventually wished she had to,but this quickly? He couldn't take it anymore. His eyes were blurry with tears and he couldn't see MC's expression. He turned around and left quickly.
After he left,MC shifted anxiously and looked at Charlie. "I'm sorry Charlie but i have something important to do .I will see you guys tomorrow.I will stay at my friend's place",MC rushed out said without waiting for a reply.
"But you said you didn't know anyone here! Where will you stay this late at night?",Charlie yelled but he figured out who it might be that friend and where she was running.
"Please god let it be him. Please ,please",she paced her steps hurriedly as she spotted the hoodie guy.Thankfully, there was barely even anyone around them. She called out his name hesitantly.
"Jake",that single word echoed in his ears for seconds, which felt like hours. He stopped in his tracks and looked at her.But his feet couldn't move an inch.He was afraid.
""I know I'm a little late
You've been doing okay, haven't you?
If we start again
I won't lose you this time""
He had so much to say to her.He wanted to beg her for forgiveness, for worrying her all this time.He knows too well how it feels. He wanted to start over before it even began. But no,his fear was consuming him more than that.
"Don't come closer,MC",he blurted out harshly. He didn't even mean that. She was his hope, but why was he acting like this?
"No Jake, listen to me .Charlie was just being protective. He is not my boyfriend. You got the wr-",her voice was slowly inaudible to him. That was not the issue right now for him.Though he was quite happy when she said that, his real fear was how she would react to him.It was too late .She grabbed his arm and pulled him out of the street. They didn't utter a single word for few minutes as they reached the alley corner.
When he tried talking again, she hugged him closely, arms trembling as she cried. She was holding in her emotions for long time than she intended. He was alive. He is right before her,not behind those pixel screens.
"I'm sorry,MC.I am sorry for not reaching out sooner",he pulled her more closely, seeking comfort in her warmth.
I just wanna say I'm sorry
I hate myself like this
Yeah, I'm lost, can I come over?
Yeah, I'm lost, can I come over?
They don't know how long they stayed like this."Do you think she'll accept you?"His mind started playing games again.
"Jake, are you listening? How long will you wear that mask huh?",she was already removing his mask and she stepped back in guilt ,looking at his huge scar on his face, that was probably along half his body.
You'll never love me like
The way you did before
But would you open up
If I knocked on your door?
"Am I scary? Is the scar very bad?Is it disgusting,MC? ",he kept blabbering nonsense words to her.
"Jake please, stop! Look at me!",she placed both her hands on his cheeks. She made sure she didn't hurt him by mistake.
Her warmth once again melted him.He leaned a bit more, but he was still hesitant.
"I am not scared, why would you think that?.A mere scar is nothing to me.You are what matters to me .Do you think my love for you is so less for this? You're underestimating it.You don't understand jake."
"I didn't think you would love me even after this",his voice cracked as he said, taking every word of her as a medicine. He hugged her even closer, his face in the crook of her neck.
Then her next words were unexpected.
"but you know what, I should have gone to the mine. This is all because of me",her tears fell on his hoodie.
"No,MC.Wait that's not why I said that-" ,but she interrupted, voice muffling with her crying."If I had gone there, none of this would have happened.I am sorry Jake."
Oh no.This thought never occurred to him,not until she mentioned it."MC that was my decision from the beginning. You do know that .I never blamed you and I will never. You say I don't understand your love,I guess you don't know mine too."
She finally looked at him."If i had to go back in time ,I would choose it over again and again. How do you think I lived all these days?Who do you think I was doing all this for? It was you.You saved me.You are my saviour."
"Then it was foolish of you to think i would leave you because of these scars",she scoffed wiping her tears. He intertwined his fingers with hers and kissed the back of her hand and chuckled."I know,I'm sorry."
She was able to see him clearly ,more like she studied his face only after his abrupt kiss. Not even the darkness nor the scars could hide his beauty. She was becoming giddy unsure whether it was because of his sweet words or his smile.
What mattered the most was that he is here, they can care about other things later. She looked at the moon and then back at him.Today the moon shined less bright than usual. But she was happy about it, strangely.
A/N: there's so much cliche and typo lol but if you still stayed, thank you so muchh for reading!❤️

masterlist
Barbara was sprawled out on the dorm carpet, reading a Lucy Maud Montgomery novel she found by chance in the university library, when her cell phone began vibrating on the nightstand. Without wasting time, she closed the book and got up, waiting to hear from her roommate, Meera, but, when Barbara swiped her finger across the lock screen, she found some text messages from an unknown number.
i would like to invite you again to eat something at that chinese restaurant
if you want to meet me, just show up there tomorrow
i'll be waiting for you :)
Her head started to throb just at the possibility of it being who she was imagining, but she quickly pushed the thought away.
Jake wouldn't put himself in danger like that.
After everything that happened in Grimrock, Duskwood's chief of police, Alan Bloomgate, personally went after her to conduct the interrogation, and, more than once, made it very clear that it was best for her to stay away from her new friends for a while. He didn't go into detail when he told her about what happened at the Ironsplinter Mine, but he confirmed that Richy was alive — despite having some serious injuries — and that Jake had fled from the FBI agents during the confusion caused by the explosion.
All the messages she sent and received during that time became evidence. Barbara had what it took to close Hannah Donfort's case literally in the palm of her hand, including the kidnapper's confession.
Consequently, she also had the means that could lead the people who were after Jake straight to him.
She was interrogated by the FBI countless times for months, until Alan decided to intervene and convinced her to hand over her cell phone to them in exchange for her old life. Since then, Barbara has not been part of the joint investigation. Or at least that's what they say — she's too smart to really believe that.
For a few seconds, she considered the chance that it was someone trying to play a trick on her. The video Lilly Donfort posted accusing her of kidnapping had gone viral across the Columbia University campus. Even her grandmother, who lived in the interior of Brazil, found out about her involvement with a hacker wanted by the North American government. However, no one else knew about the brief conversation they had about the chinese restaurant.
Except, of course, the FBI.
Without a doubt, it was a trap. Barbara felt her face turn red. It seemed that solving an old international murder case, giving up her privacy, being forced to abandon her group of friends and possibly cheating on the guy she was in love with was not enough. She also needed to act as bait when it was convenient.
Barbara huffed, irritated. Little did they know that Jake had no contact. Their partnership in crime had ended almost a year ago.
Still, there was no reason to decline the invitation. She could very well take advantage of the opportunity to tell some truths to those nosy agents, and as a bonus she would have an excuse to go to Germany without Alan being able to question her too openly.
Her lips lifted into a smile as the plan emerged in her mind.
After going through customs at Zurich Airport, picking up luggage and going to an exchange office to exchange some notes, only an hour and fifteen minutes by car separated Barbara from Duskwood. Luckily, there were several yellow taxis forming a line next to the sidewalk, because it would be a nightmare to have to deal with someone trying to compete for the same vehicle as her.
She walked out of the lounge, pulling her hot pink rolling suitcase, and turned on her smartphone to announce on the family's group chat that she had arrived safely. But before she could check her contact list to see if her parents were online, she collided with a young man's broad chest.
She jumped away from him, apologizing — or at least trying to — in german. He laughed softly, grabbing her arm to stop her from tripping over herself, and for a moment, Barbara forgot to even breathe. The young man seemed to be a few years older than her, he was tall, had dark hair and prominent round eyes that resembled the curve of a teardrop, he was wearing a white sweatshirt with a hood and black jeans.
“I'm sorry, I didn't see you.” He spoke in english, with a slight accent.
“No problem, it was my fault.” Barbara quickly straightened up, realizing that she had somehow stared too long.
The young man analyzed her from head to toe with amusement before bending down and picking up the cell phone that had flown out of her hand during the impact.
“I believe this is yours.” He joked, handing the device to her.
“Thank you.”
He nodded curtly and turned, making his way through the travelers entering and exiting the airport, as silent as a wraith.
She was inexplicably disappointed to see him leave, however she had more important things to deal with. Then, she handed the luggage to the driver to put in the trunk and got into the taxi, giving the address of the Gates Hotel, on the outskirts of Duskwood.
Barbara ran across the room, feeling the cold floor beneath her feet. She was considerably late, but as far as she remembered, she had never arrived on time to participate in the interrogations, so whoever was waiting for her at the restaurant wouldn't mind too much. She put on a black strapless dress, put on her highest heels and curled her wet hair with her fingers, leaving a small trail of water on the floor.
Through an opening in the peach curtains, she noticed that the rain had picked up outside, beating violently against the window pane. She cursed under her breath, hoping someone at the front desk could lend her an umbrella, and before Barbara could procrastinate her meeting with the FBI Special Agent any further, she took one last look at the floor mirror near the entrance hall, realizing that she was dressed for revenge.
“Someone would definitely approve of that.”
Smiling to herself, she went down a small flight of stairs to the ground floor, where the girl at the reception was reading a magazine with Nicholas Galitzine's photo on the cover.
“How can I help you?” She asked in english, without taking her eyes off the celebrity gossip.
“Hey, how you doin'? Could you lend me an umbrella, please?”
“Of course.” She said, reaching for the object under the counter and handing it to her. “A fee of two euros will be added to your room bill.” Barbara sighed, surprised, as she mentally converted the currency. “What?” The receptionist looked up, frowning. “Did you think it would be free?”
“No, obviously not.” Barbara lied, smiling politely.
“Return it by midnight or I will have to charge the full value of the item.” The girl announced, turning her attention to the magazine. Then she added: “Nice dress.”
“Okay, I'll pay when I check out.” She assured, walking towards the glass doors while opening her rented umbrella. “And thank you.”
“Have fun, Cinderella!”
Barbara regretted walking out the door as soon as she set foot on the sidewalk. Not just because of the rain, but because of the wind blowing your hair back. In any case, she had come too far to give up, and despite the storm, she could see the lights of the chinese restaurant through the blue haze a few meters ahead, on the other side of the street.
Before she could take another step, someone grabbed her arm and turned her around.
“What?” She blinked in amazement at the handsome young man she had met at the airport.
“Come with me.” He said, pulling her away from the hotel entrance.
“You are crazy? I do not know you!” Barbara shouted, dropping the umbrella near her feet. The rain completely drenched them both in moments. “Me solta!”
