Posting the new card theory as its own post because I think I said something offensive on the previous one (I reblogged it to correct it but it kinda gets buried so here it is!)
So apparently the w word is a cultural appropriation. You learn something new everyday! When I did my digging the other day this appropriation thing did not show up very frequently so I had no idea. I study semiotics as a film student, so let's use my understanding on that. I hope I'm not coming off as one of those annoying cinephiles.
On that note, let's disregard the w theory from before and see this creature as a new original creature like the legend of man without a face from duskwood. I might accidentally reference another culture but do correct me for any mistakes going forward!
Right so, it's a black humanoid deer wearing a cape... thingy? Or it could just be a silhouette. It's holding a sword-like stick. Yes it is Al but the was a prompt so i wanna read into that.
Why deer? Deer is a prey animal. It's gentle and graceful, but vigilant, we could also see that from the glowing eyes. Why humanoid? Or were deer? I'm not really fluent with creatures and myths. So it's neither fully beast nor human. The stick doesn't appear to be some sort of walking aid so I interpret it as a weapon. But because it's made out of stick that could represent resourcefulness. This story has a lot to do with the forests so that makes perfect sense.
Why was this on our "The Stranger" card? They know we're observant, and they think we're resourceful. That's not despite being an outsider, instead because we are an outsider. We could be here to be the witness.
MORE THEORIES
Previous card theory
So let's talk about the name "MOONVALE" itself. I might be overanalyzing this but whatever. I just drank three shots of americano and six mini chouxs so my heart is racing. BACK OFF!!
Obviously it's not like Duskwood where it's just the name of where the story takes place. We don't know what Moonvale means.
I wanna talk a bit more about this card. There are probably many theories, good theories, that already exists somewhere out there. So this might actually be a boring or even dumb theory. No actual spoilers, just theory
So my current theory is that this whole thing is a cult thing. A bit like a game of werewolf? Anyone could participate, and in this case the game needed a "stranger" which is us.
