I entered this world screaming and that was a good thing, a sign I was alive                   and could feel. And as I grew                    I was taught not to scream, to keep it inside,  to conduct myself with decorum, to be polite                    and kind                                      and mindful.

With every milestone I enter a new world, each a new form of supposed adulthood. And I entered them quietly. With grace,                    with care,                                      with intention.

Another approaches and I can’t take it anymore. I will enter this new world screaming and it will be a good thing. I will claw my way into it and beg not to be left behind by a broken system,                    a careless society, knowing every moment will be a battle. I will scream so I know I am alive                   and can feel. To triumph over the numbness creeping through my bloodstream,                   clouding my vision. To prove I deserve to live            and to feel.
