JeriKO SOAPS: The name, JeriKO comes from the road we live on (Jericho) mixed with Katie’s initials (JKO). In the name, you have a sense of the local place that the soap is made as well as the hands that make it.
Katie’s been making homemade soap and has decided to start selling it. She has several different kinds: lavender, pumpkin pie, pumpkin patch, strawberry lemonade, rose petals, charcoal Shea, and wild berry muffin. If you’re interested, message Katie @jkoverby on Instagram or shoot me a message or comment.
“Be present to the people in front of you from moment to moment. Electronics and technology have a way of clouding our vision for the people sitting next to us. Uncloud your life, look around. Be present.”

Growing my hair out
Wild Leaves and Peaceful Rivers
Thoughts blown about like leaves
on a windy day, caught in the midair
before they are strewn about wildly.
Noticed, brought back
through the filter of the breath.
The mind, wild like a stallion being broken,
molded into a gentle calm.
No judgment, no correction or scolding,
no guilt. Just noticed, brought back,
and let go. The filter of the mindful breath
purifying the air; the mind continually made
clear and calm like a river
that flows smoothly, not distracted
or disturbed by the creeks
and streams which flow in from the sides.
All is brought into the current
of the peaceful river and made smooth.
