It's typhoon season over here, so my towels are unable to dry. 😩 Running a little clothes steamer over them to blast out the kulob. So dumb, but the mustiness goes away; just gotta hope the heat kills the germs, too.

Why Isn't Forgotten Realms More Popular?
Despite the title, this is not really about the Forgotten Realms. Rather, it's a rumination on the importance of the mundane in your fantasy as a means to ground the magic. Mystic Arts is a YouTube channel dedicated to TTRPGs in general and Dungeons and Dragons in particular, but this particular episode is more about fantasy settings in general, in any medium, and the importance of putting as much thought into the mundane aspects of world building as you do into the fantastical elements.

At least it’ll only be 92F/33C tomorrow. It was 100F/38C today, which was super bullshit.
And when I get home from all the errands, I’ll have to start cooking potatoes, because it’s 90F/32C upstairs and only a few degrees cooler downstairs, which is not conducive to storing potatoes. So I’ll have to cook everything I get and freeze it.

Sorry, I'm not done. The fandom-sadness is hitting me again. Last year's SDCC was what got me into the IWTV fandom and this year it's like... I can't really engage with it because I'm afraid I'm going to hear nauseating excuses for some really poor and upsetting decisions, or on the other hand, people (actors) awkwardly talking around things they know were bad. And when fans are negative or dooming (myself included) it's a downer. And when fans are happy and excited I'm like, lol, for what? Unfortunately we are no longer the same. And it's all pretty silly in the grand scheme, but this fandom was really fun for me and a wonderful, lovely distraction throughout the last year, and I know that that era has ended now, and it's just a real bummer tbh. It still has a place and a purpose for me, but it's not the same. I used to be honestly excited and happy and complimentary and now I'm like...picking out the bits I like. It's a totally different vibe.
