Enben is the plural of enban, the non-binary gendered equivalent of man/woman. It is derived from the term enby. I prefer to use it because enby was initially understood to be a term that referred to non-binary youth. Whilst not everyone uses it that way, I personally prefer to use enban to describe all non-binary people to both show enben that there is more vocabulary to describe ourselves, but also to subtly uninfantilise non-binary people. Enban is a more adult feeling option. It also helps popularise these terms so other enben as well as binary people are aware of nonbinary vocabulary.

I do however, raise an eyebrow when folk talk about how post-partum bodies are the end of the world, are ugly, and how terrible it is to live in a disabled body.

It can certainly be a challenge to be disabled but it would personally hurt me if folk consistently told me how much less meaningful my life is and how I'm permanently "ruined." I don't want to be told my body is ugly.

I believe two things can be true at once, people need to be made aware of the risks of carrying a pregnancy and should be allowed to make a fully informed decision. At the same time, going "ew gross" at someones post-partum body is not only immature, but a fucked up expression of sexism.

Post-partum parents/folk are not simply your warning of what can happen during a pregnancy, they're people, their lives go on. And they deserve to know that they still deserve and in fact still have a life to live. It is not the end.

We shouldn't simply stop at reproductive rights and informed decision making, we need disability rights and protections too. Reproductive rights aren't complete without disability rights.

This is important for every person who ends up with a disability after giving birth/becoming pregnant.
