While I can wrap my head around the fact that the DSMP was like 4 years ago, Iām now coming to realize that 4 years ago for me and for a LOT of the people still DSMP posting on my timeline looks very different.
If a current dsmp fan is now 18, 4 years ago they were FOURTEEN!!
And I feel like thatās still kind of on the older side of the posters that come up on my TL. Like you were in middle school. You were 13? 12? 11???? I was a whole ass 17! I was about to graduate high school!
I suppose itās fair to assume that the vast majority of people my age or older have moved on to different things, as this isnāt our first rodeo. And donāt get me wrong, I definitely donāt think about DSMP half as much as I did back in the day, but I feel like my current QSMP fixation lends itself to crossing over into the DSMP space fairly often.
Itās fascinating to see kids posting about missing that era now with the added piece in my mind that they were literally so young. And they still fucking are. And please please please donāt get it twisted Iām not saying I enjoy talking to minors bc I really gain nothing from a conversation with someone still in high school and in their first fandom experience. Any time I run into these ppl on ponytown, webfishing, etc I am reminded why I prefer staying in the 18+ servers bc people there are just more on the same page as me bc of where we are in life.
But like binch doesnāt even KNOW Voltron?? Or like ? maybe? Do they know undertale or is that just the thing that Tommy and ranboo used music from a few times to them? Is it this old game that their peers havenāt heard of?
Not that that old fandom knowledge is so important but it just really puts into perspective for me how different our experiences are with this same piece of media. āMediaā being used kind of loosely but you know what I mean.
And yet it still is very important to each of us in a unique way. Itās just a little sobering to begin to comprehend how different those experiences are

I want Tommy to hold a grudge against Tubbo. like, I want him to not feel safe or comfortable with Tubbo. maybe during the fight at the community house, Tommy, instead of siding with Tubbo like most would think, says, "like, Techno, I don't want you to destroy L'manberg because it's the last good memory of Wilbur," turning to Tubbo, "but I'm not going to defend it. I'm leaving, since this whole place was so much better without me." then Tommy chooses a direction, and walks. maybe he leaves the stuff Techno gave him there, maybe not, but Tommy should not feel safe with Tubbo at his back.

my thoughts on dsmp!TommyInnit:
dsmp!Tommy is a big man. So he says. He's not though. Tommy is soft and kind and sings to flowers to help them grow. But the moment someone knows that? They see him be soft? It's insults after insults for however long until either they leave or Tommy escapes from the embarrassment with some of his pride intect. Because Tommy is a big man and big men aren't soft. Big men carry the weight of the world on their shoulders. Big men don't sing to flowers. And big men definitely are not kind. Tommy is a big man. So he says. But when you have to say you are something so people know, most likely you are not that thing. Especially being very loud and telling everyone that has ears he is, in fact, a big man. Huge, actually. But he's not. And, Tommy knows he's not. But he doesn't want other people to find out that he isn't as strong as he makes himself seem. That he is kind. That he is soft. That Tommy sings to the flowers to help them bloom. Tommy doesn't want people to know that he cares because it's always been something used against him. So, to stop the people he cares about from getting hurt or worse, Tommy insults and screams and is annoying and calls himself a big man and big men don't need anyone. Which only further proves that he isn't. But people get annoyed and angry with him, so it works. Does he get blamed more because of this? Yes. But Tommy thinks it's worth it because the people he cares about aren't getting hurt, the people that actually matter aren't getting hurt or worse. That's why in exile, Tommy gives up so easily. Because there's no one there he needs to put up a front for. And as exile gets worse, with dsmp!dream telling him that no one cares about him, Tommy doesn't believe there is no reason to put up a front if no one cares about him. So, with the abuse, he becomes soft and obedient. He doesn't sing to the flowers, but he does care about the bugs on the ground. Tommy is no longer a big man, he doesn't need to be.
I kinda wanna expand on the whole c!Tommy liking to make stuff. Crocheting was definitely one of his favorites and like I said last time one of the few color yarns c!Dream would give to him would be green. Because of course. The stuff Tommy made would be mostly for Dream.
The joy he would feel when Dream asked Tommy to make him something for the first time and when he finally accomplished what Dream asked him for, he would feel so so proud. Dream, of course, would take advantage of this. Showing off whatever he asked Tommy to make to Tubbo and the others in LāManberg, signaling that Tommy belonged to him.
Also, he would have Tommy make himself a matching piece. Just another way for Dream to show off that Tommy was his now. Also whenever Tommy would make a drawing of him and Dream, whether it be after a bad argument and he wanted happier memories or some other reason, Dream would always secretly or sometimes not so secretly take these drawings and put them in his own sketch book he had filled with his own drawings.
I would like to mention that Dream would also subtly take the drawings of Tommy and Tubbo or Tommy and Wilbur. Basically anyway for him to connect with his old life would be taken away with some sort of excuse made that Tommy would always believe because his best friend wouldnāt lie to him, right?
I could go on for longer but I feel like this in itself is just good knowledge for everyone to have.
Please people who have seen this before, donāt freak out! Iām simply reposting some old works not stealing anything.
Iām sorry but I canāt get the idea of Tommy being heavily religious during LāManberg and so on and heavily following and believing in Prime. Hanging out in the Holy Lands often and praying to Prime for safety of his friends and people he cares about. Fast forward to when Dream revives Tommy over and over and some sort of mishap happens where Tommy grows his devil horns, wings and tail and in his mind essentially becomes a monster. Or he is secretly some sort of hybrid and all the revival testing brings that side out.
He essentially becomes what he feared most. Tommy who started to hate how he looks and he feels that Prime betrayed him or he betrayed Prime in becoming this hybrid creature. Tommy starts to get urges that tell him to hurt others, people he cares about. Little voices that whisper in his head telling him that he needs to do this.
Dream who calls Tommy sinful and an abomination and plays exactly into Tommyās fears. Tommy who agrees to be locked up so he canāt hurt the people he cares about, unknowing of what he signed up for in doing so. Tommy sometimes goes into black-out fits of rage where he wants to destroy everything and everyone in his way.
However, once he snaps out of these fits, heās horrified of what heās done and starts to try and follow what Dream says more because Dream promised that he could help him get over these. Dream who tries to train Tommy so that whenever he has those fits, he follows what Dream tells him to do. Kinda like Ranbooās enderwalk phase. Whenever Dream is angry at Tommy, he starts to grind his horns down and cut at his wings and eventually Tommy dies until Dream revives him and Tommy has to painfully feel it slowly grow back.
Tommy who believes himself to be a monster and to be unlovable. Dream would be the only one who cared for him.
