Midnight
I got drunk at party the other night
The vodka called my name after you spat it out
I called him to come pick me up
“Take me to the park”
“You can barely walk..”
“Take me to the park”
And so we went
We laid on the grass and talked about you
We watched the stars until the world spun so fast I became dizzy
I come from a broken family
I learned that you’re supposed to lay a drunk person on their side so they don’t choke and die on their own vomit before I had even learned to ride a bicycle
I think that explains a lot about the person I turned into
And here I lay
On my side, in the empty park, at midnight
Sober thoughts pouring out of me as drunk words and tightening around my throat
Saying I love you to man that is not you
