Hello from Bran Castle! You can see it sitting high in the back behind these Croatian riders I met in Transylvania 😺 Have you ever heard of Dracula? I’m sure you have, it was a timeless book written by Bram Stoker. Bran Castle is famous because it is the only castle in all of Transylvania that fits Bram Stoker’s description of Dracula’s Castle and is known throughout the world as Dracula’s Castle. Bram never actually visited Romania, so it was probably based on a description available to him. A lot of people recommended me to visit this castle, and of course I listened since it’s the number one thing to see in Romania. Of course I go on the day that is literally a field trip for 300 school kids, so imagine navigating this castle with all that energy. Not my thing. Honestly I think the castle’s lore is more interesting than the castle itself. Full of history, but a bit of a tourist trap using the Dracula story to suck people in. See what I did there? My highlight of the day, however was meeting these two hooligans. We parked in the same parking stall (as most considerate riders do to save spaces for cars). The parking fee was like $2 for a stall and I just paid for all of us, no big deal. I’m happy to take care of fellow riders when I can. But these two guys were so nice. They wanted to buy me a drink. Of course I said, No, that’s not why I paid for us. But they were super thankful because they didn’t have cash on them and wanted to show their appreciation. So we hung out together and explored Bran Castle and I grabbed a Coke with them after (my guilty pleasure on the road). Meeting them made my day. I always get excited to meet local riders. Has that ever happened to you? Where the thing you wanted to visit was a bit lackluster, but the people you met along the way was the best part? It’s cute, we’re Facebook friends now and I ask them moto advice. Super thankful to have encountered them Have a great weekend y’all.
