Hello from Rugova Canyon in Kosovo! Riding this canyon was an absolute dream. It has huge jaggedy mountains on both sides and a super narrow sketchy road where sometimes only one car could fit. Kosovo is a hidden treasure with so much beautiful nature. Of course ya girl also hiked in her clunky moto boots down a rickety broken metal ladder to this waterfall. Worth falling and scraping my hands and knees? Absolutely. I love exploring cities, but nature always heals me. Sometimes it’s nice not wearing all 10 lbs of moto gear walking around the city. I feel so much lighter and I don’t have to do this whole process of taking off gloves, helmet, headphones, disconnecting charging cords, rolling them up to put in my pockets, locking my bike, etc etc. Do you prefer exploring in regular human clothes or moto gear? Happy Monday y’all! 😺 How was your weekend? Riding through Albania has been such a pleasant surprise. The beaches, rivers and mountains have been such a treat to ride alongside and visit. I have to be honest. Not everything is picture perfect. The majority of these roads have been absolutely littered with trash. So far, Albania has the worst litter problem I’ve ever seen. It’s very disheartening and I feel hopeless riding through hundreds of miles/ kilometers of this scene and not being able to change this mentality. I’ve seen so many people just throw their trash out the window while they are driving. Even some of the friends I made in Albania have this habit. Travel is so interesting. It forces me to be even more open minded and accepting of other peoples’ worlds when I am not around like minded people. It’s not hard for me to accept others differences because I know I can’t control other people, but it is hard for me to accept life choices that I feel like are cardinal rules for the privilege of existing as a human, like not littering. Does anyone else have these thoughts? Welcome to the Region of Peloponnese, a mythical place! I absolutely love the beauty I’ve seen so far riding through this region. There’s something different about riding along thousands of olive trees on my left and right. I’m curious about the magic of this region that has yet to say hello to me. Energy wise, I’ve been super exhausted the last few days. I went hard with the riding and have been laying low, nourishing my body and resting quite a bit. I’m listening to my body. But ironically, what jolts my body with energy is going to the gym, lifting hard and then resting. If I don’t do this, it will take me a week to recover. It’s a strange situation. But I don’t have the energy to go to the gym unless I force myself. Trying to find the motivation so I can keep moving on my journey. Does anyone else face situations like this? Treating myself to a warm soak in a natural geothermal pool to relax my body. It’s one of the ways I treat myself on this expedition. I like to find the off the beaten path public ones where locals go instead of paying for the touristy spa. Sometimes I opt for that if it’s affordable and my body needs it, but I’d rather ride 6 hours in the cold to go to a public one. True story. Transforming into a swimsuit is so funny to me. I literally shed 10lbs of gear: helmet, gloves, jacket, pants and boots. It feels like what a turtle would feel like if you took of its protective layer of a shell. Lol.
