On this day in 1816, the HMS Whiting ran aground on the Doom Bar, and they really should've known better. It's right there in the name.

Let me state this up front: I’m not a beer drinker of any description.  But Mr B is filming in the title role of Cormoran Strike, annnndddd Strike’s favourite tipple is Doom Bar annnndddd when I was doing the shopping I noticed this annnnddd so for the sake of science Tom Burke’s pretty green eyes which apparently can persuade me into anything, I bought a bottle.

Tasting notes: It tastes like beer.

I did say I wasn’t a beer drinker.  I don’t get any of the notes of whatever that it is supposed to have, all I can say is that it isn’t bitter, I taste what I suppose are the hops, and I can see that chilled, as a summer drink, consumed in the sunshine on a nice day, it’s very easy to drink.  Also as is, I could easily drink it, but I’ll probably make a shandy of it to finish it off.
