We all have something that is really hard for us. Whether it is math or art or writing…
For me, I have a lot. One is cooking. I suck so bad at cooking that throughout a whole 6 months of home ec class, I never once produced anything edible. Hello adhd.
So I’m now way too old to have no idea how to cook for myself, but I decided f that, I’m going to learn. So this year I have been trying to cook stuff I always wanted to make. It turns out just going in the kitchen and deciding what ingredients is too much for me. MASSIVE overwhelm. I forget the boiling water and burn the pot. Everything tastes like cardboard. I have no clue.
Follow a recipe???? Yeah, I always miss a step. Like ALWAYS! Or I accidentally stored frozen shrimp in the cabinet with the blender.
But yesterday, I found a recipe for chicken and dumplings in the instant pot and decided what do I have to lose? So I got brave and I got out the ingredients and I got creative. I didn’t forget any of the steps!!!! I successfully made chicken and dumplings!
Which I think gave me food poisoning based on the late night nausea. I’m fairly sure I accidentally used the old broth in the fridge instead of the new one.
But that’s beside the point. I did it!!! I made chicken and dumplings! And it tasted edible!
Every failure is a step toward success and I’m getting there! Celebrate the struggle! Mistakes are mandatory if you want to make anything! 🎉🎉🎉🎉
Anyway, that’s my victory story for today.
