Or, the best of all, you can just make them for yourselves at any time of the day and call them your midnight snacks!
Ingredients:
1ยฝ cups all purpose flour 1ยฝ cups Quaker Oats, uncooked 1 tablespoon baking powder ยผ cup sugar ยฝ teaspoon salt 2/3 cup butter or margarine, melted 1/3 cup milk 1 egg ยฝ cup chocolate chips or fruit
Directions:
Preheat oven to 425 F
Take all the dry ingredients and combine them in a medium to large bowl.
Add butter, milk, and egg. Mix until just moist. But be sure that you donโt miss any pockets of flour. They like to hide on the bottom.
Add in the chocolate chips or fruit. Raisins work well with this recipe.
On a floured surface take your dough. Pat and shape it out into a flat circle.
With a large knife cut out as many scones as you want. Watch them fingers, though!
Transfer to a cookie sheet and bake for 12-15 minutes until slightly browned. It may happen that you take it out too early and the inside is still too gooey. If that be the case, just pop it back into the oven and watch it for a few more minutes. Your ovenโs temper also plays a key role in how long you bake the scones for.
When done, let cool for a few minutes then enjoy!
