#dmc floss

First visible mending project!

Although it's far from good, I like the colours I chose to repair the hole in one of my favourite sweaters! The placement is fortunate too, it kind of looks like an embroidered logo or something.

Fun fact, I got the sweater from a friend’s closet, when she cleared out her grandma's things (don't worry she didn't pass away).

“Burrowing Owls” Hook, Line and Tinker pattern, DMC Floss. I used all 6 strands of floss.

It’s been so long since I’ve done the satin stitching I forgot to do the satin stitch BEFORE the outline instead of after. I will try to remember next time. My version certainly doesn’t look like the stock photo. 🙄 I suppose not everything can be Instagram perfect. My craftsmanship has never been good.

Is it me or are some colors of floss more unruly compared to others? I think it has to do with the way the dye is on the cotton. The lavender purple (DMC 210) was far harder to work with compared to the dark purple (DMC 550) for me. I would just cut a new piece of floss if it was annoying me enough but I do recommend floss wax if you are having issues with the floss.

I want to do the rest of this northern owl collection! I’m going on a big trip soon but after I plan on getting the rest of the owl patterns. For now I am going to try some beginner stitch samplers again since I seem to be rusty on all my stitches.

They have discontinued it and a project I want to make calls for it.
