8. common fandom opinion that everyone is wrong about
Really choosing violence with this one, but: I don't think based on what we see in canon that Eddie would want to more kids. I think he loves Chris and loves being a father to Chris, but I think being a father is not something that has come easily or naturally to him for reasons I will expand more on in 22!
9. worst part of canon
The fact that Tim clearly wishes he was Michael Bay instead of the director of an ensemble-based procedural. :| And look, I don't even mind the huge setpieces or whatever. The tsunami was my favorite disaster arc and that was huge in scope. But it was also very grounded in character moments and interactions, and sometimes it seems like Tim's getting bored of that stuff, but EYE am not!! It's the four minute helicopter chase that's boring!!
22. your favorite part of canon that everyone else ignores
I've talked about this before, but the fact that Eddie was basically not in Chris's life at all until he was what? 6? years old? And then it was only because he was forced to. I really feel like fandom has papered over this entirely, probably because it's a hard to reconcile with how he is now, but I just think it's really important to his character, especially because it informed a lot of what happened in seasons 7 and 8 too with Eddie letting Chris run away to Texas and then waiting too long to bring him back. All these years later, he's still not confident in his role as a father, and he still deals with it by just...deciding to let someone else handle it. Which is FASCINATING from a characterization standpoint. I feel like there's this fandom protectiveness of him that's dependent on painting him as this perfect father, and I'm not saying he's a BAD father, but he's definitely made some huge mistakes (for understandable reasons, but still) and I wish that was explored more, because there's so much juiciness there to dig into!
