//: As most of you know, I’m disabled, and honestly the biggest thing that helped me get anywhere near disability acceptance was the #cripplepunk community on Tumblr. They’re incredible. Given Mac’s already neon, punk-y vibe, it felt natural (and fun) to lean into that.
Gentle reminder: please don’t call physically disabled people cripples. Outside our community it’s still a slur, and it stings. The only reason you’ll see it in #cripplepunk is because that specific community has reclaimed it for ourselves. Reclamation ≠ free pass. If you’re not physically disabled, it’s not your word to use.

Disability aids positivity is getting a wheelchair suited to your needs through something like a charity. And said wheelchair being so much easier to use than the old, used, rented one you stated with, to the point of maybe even allowing you to keep a full-time job with it! Or at least a little more than part-time! We will try to get out of the house every day nowadays, because we know we can do it safely and comfortably!
I love all my friends, I love learning about how their lives are and how they manoeuvre the world. I love the empathy , sympathy and compassion ive seen online and in person just so uplifting.
It gives me strength to continue. The world doesnt feel so isolated anymore.
Openess has changed me in a huge way. I want to make people feel empowered because its brutal out here sometimes. Little acts of kindness go a long way,even if its just small acts.
Just alot of online spaces have really changed my perspective of Disabilities as a whole, especially people who are deaf,schizophrenic, a sociopath, have OCD, anxiety, Depression, DID, CPTSD,BPD,Autism,ADHD. People with chronic pain, or POTS,chronic illnesses and autoimmune conditions. And many more through online content.
Its improved how i view my Disabilities, life, my body and my brain. Overtime i become less scared of the world because we support and uplift eachother. Im eternally grateful.

Discovered I can 'run' with my crutches, I cannot run at all without and trying to do track at 12 was what made me realise I definitely had more going on then "just growing pains". I spent a long weekend mostly in bed because of the pain and also how much it crushed me that we couldn't do any sport at school like wanted
Just got my first mobility aid and honestly....I am scared to use it in public. I'm gonna practice using it at the park nearby. But I have heard of horror stories from disabled people with invisible illnesses like my own who have had just...vitriol spewed at them for using one in public. I wish there were more stories about disabled joy with using a mobility aid.
