Another IRL photo post back to back? Wrow who would've known. So did we just rearrange our ita bag yesterday? Yes. Did we just undo all that work today? Also yes.
We spent two hours turning this sparkly clear dollar store pencil case into a pin display for our walker, double sided how lucky we are. The pin insert is just recycled cardboard painted with acrylic paint markers, the straps is yarn with colored beads and clasps to make it removeable when we need to fold up the walker for transport.
So I decided, heres us showing off our rollator walker, our primary mobility aid these days [we also do have a sparkly purple cane w stickers but it was becoming not enough support lately]
Theres little dollar store halloween gem stickers, I know they'll end up falling off during transport at times especially on the rounded walker pieces but I couldn't resist just decking it out. After so long of seeing people with such beautiful mobility aids and customizing them to their personality and wanting to do that, I'm so pleased with our walker like this, it makes me really happy.
In hindsight beads on the back beam for the walker aren't the most comfortable when we need to lean back [I did test this, they're not painful its just awkward] SO when we return to the shop we're planning on getting some Halloween ribbon instead to switch this up, that way its fabric, flat, and easy to lean on safely.
[For those curious, some family members of ours were kind enough to get us this walker since we're broke but the cane was feeling not enough. We have chronic lower back pain and currently are awaiting our doctor to explain lower spine MRI results next month, although we've dealt with this pain for years. Of course we'd been told before to just exercise more, until we started pushing for testing this year. All we know from researching our results is the lower two vertebrae of our spine are minor and moderately [per vertebrae] messed up, some stuff inbetween vertebrae are, the canal where the spinal cord is is narrowed, and there's contact with the lower nerve that controls lower body movement. We deal with chronic pain, shakes, unsteadiness. Along with our CHD and winded-ness, this offers us a safe option to sit to catch our breath as well.]
