hi there, so my system can't switch but we've been trying. I'm just always fronting. But recently I haven't heard from my headmates at all, and I don't know what happened. Our communication was getting so good, and we were co-fronting a lot, we were so close to switching, and then it just stopped. I've tried calling out to them but I get no reply, I don't know where any of them are, but I don't think they've all gone dormant again, I just think I'm blocked off. Please help...
Hi there, thank you for your message and I do apologise for how long it has taken for me to respond.
There is no hard and fast rule when it comes to in-system communication. Alters, headmates, are not consistent with their availability and ability to communicate, just like people outside your system. You won't always be able to communicate, and communication can seem to abruptly stop or waiver for no apparent reason. There may have been a trigger that cause this, there may not have. I do not know of any systems that do not occasionally go through periods of time like this.
Being stuck fronting is definitely a frustrating experience, especially when paired with sudden radio silence. Unfortunately, sometimes it is just something you have to ride out. A system going quiet and being stuck at front does not invalidate your experiences as a system. You can try to trigger other alters out, generally using positive triggers, but if it doesn't seem to be working I would not recommend pushing it. System members will begin communicating again when they can, when they are ready. Sometimes you just have to be patient, which I know is frustrating.
