what's your take on half elves? are they visibly half elven or is it a spectrum? I'm unsure of how their fellow templars know if they're half elven unless they just happen to know they grew up in an alienage and or they visibly look different than the others. it seems like each game had their own take on this

I already kinda answered this before in terms of how half-elves are portrayed in Small Fires, but I mostly leave it up to player interpretation (with Dhalis being 'human passing', however you want to define that). So, it's a spectrum leaning more towards human.

The kids in the Monastery know about young Dhalis because of plot, but also because I think it's unlikely they'd be able to keep it 100% under wraps for long, given their age and the context of their living situation (maybe Mama Dhalis dropped them off 🤷‍♀️). At Kinloch Hold, higher ups like Rolan are aware and newer recruits like Simon aren't, but I leave it up to the player for how many other templars are 'in the know'.

As for my personal take, I don't feel strongly one way or the other. I think the canon 'human' half-elves are interesting, but I've also seen more DnD-style/visibly mixed half-elves that are as equally cool. Just depends on what you do with it, I suppose!
