I love how if you've listened to the pillows any meaningful amount, you can immediately recognize the vocals and instrumental style in any song by them or any of the band's members.
They have such a well-realized trademark sound without ever feeling like they're derivative of their own music. You catch similar refrains in all of it, but it's never sounded to me like they're just making the same song again.
Kishida Kyoudan & The Akeboshi Rockets feel similar to me. They've got their sound figured out and are so confident in it that they can iterate on it and try wider variations without losing their identity. I think every great band needs to be able to do that.
