From a long long hitaus, I’m back,
So much has happened and so much has changed so for 1 I took my DELF B1 exam in July.
So the first part was the Listening and to be honest that was a shit show even though listenings are my strong suit. During my mock exams, I was doing pretty well and I was collecting so many points. But for some reason, I had a hard time understanding what they were talking about and it didn’t really match the questions. I later found out I wasn’t the only one who struggled with that which was very comforting. It continued with the reading comprehension, that was super easy and fun to do I really enjoyed it. It’s not really hard to look for answers that are in the text word for word. The writing production was a mess, I read what I was supposed to write about and thought “What the... what do you want to hear from me?” But I worked it out and wrote the required amount of words which was somewhere around 600-800 words. Between that and the oral exam, I had like a 2-hour break which was nice and refreshing; I was definitely not used to being tested anymore Before my break was completely over I headed back inside to simply be there on time, I had like 15 minutes before I had to prepare a text and decided to wait in the hallway. During our examination, I think other people had class and since the walls were thin I was able to hear all the C1 speakers and some others who were taking the exam. Hearing a lot of them talk discouraged me big time I’m talking about I wanted to leave yet, in exactly that moment I heard a girl who just went in for her oral exam (same level as I ) and she wasn’t that good either. To be honest that encouraged me to stay and take the exam. I mean I paid like 90€ to be able to take the exam which is a lot of money when you don’t really have any and leaving midway through an exam you don’t know the outcome of is simply stupid. Then it was my turn, the guy who was supervising us during our prep time before our oral exam was an ass. Like he said something and in exactly that time someone closed a door and was talking with someone. Obviously, the girl who was with me didn’t understand him either and instead of repeating it he just got mad and switched to German. I was like, Okay fuck you too. The lady who took my oral exam on the other hand was was so nice and sweet. I was glad that I was there on that day and got her she was thoughtful and knew I understood but I was so nervous answering that I had to stop and breathe through before starting my sentence over.
Shortly after my exam, I handed in my 4 weeks notice at work because damn I had to take the risk. I couldn’t take it anymore just being in a place which just fucks me over and makes me cry as soon as I look at my work schedule. I thought that even if I failed I can still apply for a different job, earn more money, have breaks, not mental breakdowns and actually live for once. On my last day, they gave me a present a cake and a small piggy bank with some change they collected in it. To be honest it was the best decision ever, even though I think that it might have been better to wait a bit longer but in the end, it is better than starting University a nervous wreck. In the meantime I applied for university, now that is an entirely different hot mess I’ll write about in a new post since this is getting a bit long.
